Digital Consultants is seeking a Network Architect to support a government customer. The Network Engineer designs, implements, and manages secure, enterprise-scale network infrastructures supporting DoD OIG mission operations. This role is responsible for wide-area and local-area network services across multiple geographic locations, integrating on-premises and cloud environments, and ensuring network availability, performance, and security. The Network Engineer manages VPN services, hybrid connectivity, capacity planning, and troubleshooting, while collaborating with other IT teams to deliver reliable network services. The position requires deep technical expertise in enterprise WAN/LAN environments, VPN technologies, and hybrid cloud networking, with a strong focus on compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
Network Architect duties to include:
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise WAN/LAN networks supporting 1,000+ users across multiple locations.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize VPN services, including site-to-site and remote access solutions.
- Manage hybrid network environments, integrating on-premises infrastructure with commercial cloud services.
- Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and threshold management for enterprise-scale networks.
- Implement and enforce DoD network security standards and compliance requirements (IAT Level II baseline).
- Administer routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, and other network devices.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues, escalating and resolving problems across infrastructure layers.
- Support disaster recovery and continuity of operations planning for network services.
- Maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support to Service Desk escalations for network-related incidents.
- Collaborate with system administrators, cloud architects, and cybersecurity staff on network architecture and integration.
- Support implementation of new network technologies and modernization initiatives.
Requirements
Clearance Required (if any): Secret
Education: Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering, telecommunications, or related technical field
Education: Preferred
- Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, related field
Certifications:
Required
- Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Routing and Switching certification
Preferred
- Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) v3 or later
- Cloud Network Certifications relevant to hybrid environments such as (Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Advanced Networking, or equivalent)
Experience
- 10 years’ IT experience with at least 7 years’ experience with enterprise network design, implementation, and management.
- 5 years’ experience managing complex WAN/LAN environments supporting 1,000+ users across multiple geographic locations
- 3 years’ experience with VPN services to include provisioning, monitoring, and the management of site-to-site VPN connectivity and remote user access solutions
- 3 years’ experience with hybrid network environments integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud network services, and experience with network capacity planning, performance monitoring, and threshold management for enterprise-scale networks
