Digital Consultants is seeking a Cloud Architect to support a government customer. The Cloud Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of hybrid cloud solutions that integrate on-premises infrastructure with commercial cloud platforms. This role provides expert-level technical leadership in cloud strategy, architecture, security, and migration, ensuring DoD OIG environments remain secure, resilient, and cost-optimized. The Cloud Architect leads planning and execution of cloud adoption, migration, and modernization initiatives, while collaborating with cybersecurity, network, and application teams to achieve mission objectives. The role requires deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, infrastructure as code (IaC), and enterprise-scale cloud deployments. The Cloud Architect ensures compliance with DoD standards, aligns solutions to mission needs, and drives innovation in cloud services delivery.
Cloud Architect duties to include:
- Design, plan, and implement hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premises infrastructure with Azure cloud services.
- Lead cloud migration projects, including re-hosting, re-factoring, and re-architecting applications.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates (ARM, Bicep, Terraform) for cloud provisioning and automation.
- Establish and enforce cloud security, compliance, and identity/access management policies in alignment with DoD standards.
- Support high-availability architectures, disaster recovery, and business continuity in cloud environments.
- Monitor and optimize cloud performance, capacity, and cost, including autoscaling and resource utilization.
- Provide Tier 3 support for cloud incidents, troubleshooting, and escalations.
- Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to integrate cloud services with enterprise IT.
- Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures for cloud platforms.
- Conduct proof-of-concept testing for new cloud services and recommend adoption strategies.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT staff on cloud technologies and best practices.
- Serve as subject matter expert in cloud strategy discussions with government leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements
Clearance Required (if any): Secret
Education: Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering or related technical field
Education: Preferred
- Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related engineering discipline
Certifications:
- IAT Level II
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Experience
- 8 years’ IT experience with at least 5 years’ experience focused on cloud infrastructure design, implementation, and management
- 3 years’ experience managing hybrid cloud environments, integrating on-premises infrastructure with Azure cloud services
- 3 years’ experience managing cloud infrastructure supporting 1,000+ users across multiple geographic locations
- 2 years’ experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementation using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Bicep, or Terraform
- 2 years’ experience with cloud migration projects to include virtual machine migration from on-premises to Azure, and technical expertise in Azure cloud services
