Job Description Summary

The Corporate Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and deliverables of many aspects of financial, accounting, planning, analysis, reporting, cash management, taxes and ad hoc projects. The Corporate Accountant’s main responsibilities include monthly accounting close, general ledger account reconciliation, and preparation / analysis of financial statements. This individual will participate in preparing work papers for the annual audit, tax, and internal control routine testing to ensure compliance with local and group policies and procedures. The Corporate Accountant will work collaboratively with other members of accounting team, the corporate finance organization and with other business units/departments (US and Canada) to ensure proper compliance with group financial reporting.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs periodic closing activities:
  • Prepares and posts reclassifications, accruals, and other general ledger postings in SAP to ensure financial statement accuracy. Assists to resolve BPC (EPM) reporting issues.
  • Performs detailed review and analysis of general ledger accounts and posting schemes, challenging financial posting data when appropriate.
  • Enters and reviews financial statement information in BPC and assists in completion of the monthly reporting package ensuring that all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Reconciles monthly inter-company flows with other subsidiaries and performs necessary follow-up to investigate and resolve reconciling items.
  • Prepares account reconciliations and monthly management reporting.
  • Assists as an accounting liaison between various functional departments to manage month-end accounting, provide valuable reporting and identify opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Assists with management of the fixed asset and lease process with various locations.
  • Provides data for monthly working capital or free cash flow deliverables.
  • Perform timely and accurately weekly banking activity review.
  • Resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner.
  • Acts as an accounting liaison between various functional departments to manage month-end accounting, provide valuable reporting and identify opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Provides data and workpapers for annual audit, tax information and compliance deliverables.
  • Assist with special projects or other management reporting as assigned.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum degree and experience required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with 3-4 years of relevant work experience.
    • Experience with SAP and BPC (or other ERP software) is preferred.
    • Manufacturing or CPG industry experience is a plus.
    • Financial audit experience is a plus.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong computer literacy and ability to navigate software tools effectively.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to spot and analyze anomalies.
    • Strong time management and ability to work independently or within a team.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing workflows, priorities, and communication styles to successfully collaborate internally and externally
    • Demonstrates professionalism, credibility, integrity, and strong interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Working Conditions

Work is performed largely in a hybrid office environment. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 40 hours a week. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines and other concerns. Occasional travel may be required.

Total Rewards

  • Base Salary: $85,000 - $95,000
  • Bonus opportunity: 10%
