About The role
Join our dynamic team as a Data Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure. 🔹Location: WAPHA Head Office, Level 2, 1 Hood Street, Subiaco (Hybrid Role)
🔹Employment Type: Max term until 30th June 2026 (Possibility of extension depending on funding)
🔹 Salary: Band 5 ($110k -$120k Plus 12% Superannuation)
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Manage the provision of ongoing maintenance and technical support through the WAPHA ITIL based ticketing system.
- Manage ITIL Methodology for Data Engineering.
- Manage Agile Delivery Methodology for Data Engineering Projects.
- Manage stakeholders, conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness.
- Manage the design, development & delivery of Data Models and Pipelines.
- Define and measure success metrics and monitor Data Model and Pipeline performance.
- Review technology policies and plans, provide guidance and assist Vendor Project Managers, delivery partners and managed service providers
- Support and engage leaders with change management activities.
- Ability to leverage relationships with delivery partners and managed services providers such as Netlink, NW Computing etc.
- The CRM Administrator must be able to work effectively at all levels in an organization, be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
About you
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following selection criteria:
Essential experience and education
- Tertiary qualification or latest certification in related field.
- At least 3 year experience working in Azure Services or an equivalent cloud platform (Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, ADF, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks etc.)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience using programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks, preferably within Azure ecosystem.
- Familiarity with data modelling, data warehousing, and data pipeline orchestration
- Exposure to CI/CD practices and version control tools (e.g., Git) for data workflows.
- Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.
- Strong demonstrated experience in SQL, including:
- Proficiency in T-SQL or PL/SQL
- Skilled in writing complex database queries and optimizing performance
- Prior experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) is advantageous, but not required—enthusiasm to learn is welcome.
- Prior experience in the primary care domain or with healthcare datasets is valued, though not essential
