Job Title:  Human Resources Generalist


Reports to:  Human Resources Director


FLSA Status:   Exempt

 

Position Purpose: The role of the Human Resources Generalist is to be a strategic partner that will help manage the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department with direction from the Human Resources Director for two of the Hoffman Companies. This role balances administrative tasks with strategic initiatives, ensuring compliance, driving employee engagement and acting as a resource for all employees, including leadership, all while being a promoter and educator of our positive ESOP culture. The Human Resources Generalist must have the ability to work under pressure, demonstrate active listening and exhibit organizational skills. This position requires an individual who is customer oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities with deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help implement HR strategies and initiatives that support business goals and foster a positive organizational culture.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns or to answer administrative questions related to pay, benefits, the retirement plan, policies and procedures, and/or distribute work related documents, materials, and information.
  • Handle offboarding, including exit interviews, and ensure a smooth transition for departing employees.
  • Help facilitate the implementation of systems, programs, tools and processes designed to improve management and employee performance, productivity, engagement and business results.
  • Oversee and implement various Human Resources research projects and/or special projects in order enhance the effectiveness of the employee experience and the Human Resources Department.
  • Support conflict resolution and assist in coaching managers on employee relations issues.
  • Alongside the Human Resources Director, assist in conducting investigations related to workplace issues and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Act as liaison with recruiting team on new positions and through the offer letter approval process. Work with legal when agreements and/or contracts or unique situations are involved.
  • Partner with management to identify areas for improvement and develop training initiatives to enhance performance.
  • Become an active member, and eventual leader, of the ESOP Employee Communications committee to promote and sustain our ESOP culture.
  • Oversee creating and updating job descriptions and ensuring they are compliant with federal/state/local regulations.
  • Complete required federal reports in accordance with their annual deadlines.
  • Conduct and coordinate training for new and current associates
  • Conduct and coordinate training for Managers/Leaders in the organization
  • Oversee required screenings in accordance with client specific requirements.
  • Work with benefits team as needed to assist with employee health and welfare plans.
  • Conduct audits of payroll and other HR programs and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure the effective utilization of plans related to HR programs and services.
  • Ensure legal and ethical compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 or more years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • SHRM- CP or PHR certification preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of HR laws/regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.).
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and maintain confidentiality in connection with critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.
  • Strong customer service skills with the desire to go above and beyond for both internal and external customers.
  • Must be detail oriented, results oriented and able to embrace and adapt to change, along with the ability to effectively multi-task in a deadline driven atmosphere.
  • Strong competency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), experience with Visio is a plus.
  • Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now platform preferred.
  • Ability to use sound judgement in following and applying appropriate laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively, collaboratively, and independently.
  • Possess integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and work well independently or in a team.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, with some overnight stays.
