Incumbent conducts research, data collection, and assists department management with technical support needed to advance various administrative projects and initiatives. Performs analysis, prepares reports, and develops recommendations. Coordinates and assists with implementation of complex, multi-agency, large scale, and long-term department/division initiatives.About the Position:
The Special Projects Assistant will work closely with the Director of Security to support the Security Division's operations. This role will primarily focus on assisting with the planning, scheduling, and execution of sensitive security projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining reports, policies, and procedures, as well as coordinating communications with various stakeholders, including department directors and elected officials. Additionally, the position requires conducting research on security trends and practices in other municipalities and processing access and badge issuance requests.

Position Salary Range:
$23.00 - $29.00/hr based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Director of Security with planning, scheduling, and executing sensitive projects.
Develop and maintain detailed reports, policies, and procedures to support security operations.
Conduct research on best practices and security trends in other municipalities, providing recommendations for improvements.
Process requests for access control and badge issuance, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
Support the Security Division with ad-hoc tasks and special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration or a closely related field, or four (4) years paid professional experience including any combination of research, statistical analysis, project and legislative review, policy development, and related activities. Preference may be given to candidates with public sector experience.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Strong research and analytical skills, with an ability to synthesize complex information into clear reports and recommendations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
A strong sense of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a security-related field, government agency, or similar environment.
Familiarity with access control systems, badge issuance, and security protocols.
Experience coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders.
