The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for managing the Accounts Payable function including entering, validating, and processing of all invoices and vendor payment for Conn-Selmer on an accurate and timely basis. Responsible for sales/use tax and property tax, account reconciliations, and fixed asset system.
Responsibilities:
- Daily contact and problem resolution with vendor base.
- Daily supervision of Accounts Payable staff to ensure accurate and timely data entry of invoices.
- Monitor the processing of A/P check runs for accuracy.
- Reconcile the accounts payable sub-ledger into the general ledger and ensure that all invoices are properly accrued on a monthly basis.
- Work with procurement to improve cash flow through increased terms with vendors.
- Prepare monthly reports as required and processing of year-end 1099 filings.
- Automate the processing of accounts payable invoices in order to gain efficiencies.
- Responsible for tax planning and compliance with regard to sales/use tax and property tax including preparation of returns.
- Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of assigned accounts including preparation of journal entries and account analysis.
- Review and analysis of fixed asset system.
- Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance in the area of accounts payable.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance or a minimum of 8 years of related accounting and accounts payable experience.
- Minimum 5 years of financial experience in a manufacturing environment to include experience in sales and property taxes as well as fixed assets.
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and disciplined approach to controls and documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite software (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Self-starter, ability to work independently.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, team members and vendors
- Understanding of internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus, but not required.
- Requires long periods of sedentary work.
- Requires repetitive upper movement – keyboarding and monitor use.
