An Unpaid Internship is available for persons interested in limited bilingual direct customer service. The intern will: 1) observe various types of court proceedings and court interpreting events; 2) receive mentorship and guidance on bilingual careers within the judiciary; 3) assist with court greeting and providing basic information to Spanish speaking court users; 4) Receive academic credits. The Unpaid Internship will last one college semester.
Position Duties
- Work flexible hours possibly for the Fall 2025 semester, Spring 2026 semester, and Summer 2026 semester
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are helpful
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel are helpful
- Course in translation and/or interpretation are a plus
- Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university while currently pursuing a degree or graduated from a college/university within one year of application.
Applicants should:
- Be interested in a career of bilingual direct customer service.
- Have a mastery of Spanish and English.
- Be responsible and reliable.
Applicants should submit:
- A cover letter with reference to the announcement number and including both day and evening telephone numbers,

- Current transcript showing completion of Spanish language classes at level 200 or above.

Other Qualifications
Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
Special Note: Unpaid intern applicants who are 18 years of age or older must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. The Administrative Office of the Courts provides technical assistance, operational support, training, research and development, budget and personnel coordination, and development and operation of information systems for the Courts of New Jersey.
