JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for retrieval and delivery of important and sensitive documents inter-departmentally within District offices, and intra-departmental throughout The Villages community, as directed. Primary responsibilities include sorting mail, pickup amenity payments for daily deposits, pickup money bags from the country club golf centers and recreation centers for daily deposits, monitor all postal service bulletin boards for current and expired postings, make special deliveries as needed and deliver monthly agenda packets for all local governmental units as needed.                                                    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes, but not limited to) 

General

  • Reads maps and follows written and verbal geographical directions.
  • Inspects courier vehicle equipment, mirrors, lights, gas and temperature gauges, tires, turn signals, brakes, etc. to ensure the proper operations and upkeep of the courier vehicles in proper working condition. 

Courier

  • District
    • Picks-up amenity fee payments from each postal station in assigned area each day. Payments must be delivered to District Finance Department in a timely manner.
    • Picks-up District and non-District department correspondence and handles accordingly.
  • Bulletin Board
    • Responsible for posting and removing flyers on each of the bulletin boards located at the postal facilities.
    • Responsible for reviewing the bulletin boards daily and removing any unauthorized flyers posted within or on the outside of the bulletin boards.
  • Board Supervisors
    • Delivers supervisor and agenda packages to District Board members within time frame given by District Clerk. Other deliveries or pick-ups as requested.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Ensures routine maintenance and up-keep of assigned District vehicle including, but not limited to car washes, oil changes, and other maintenance as needed.
  • Reports delays, accidents or other traffic or transportation situations.

Additional                                                                              

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be expected to perform additional duties in an emergency.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • All candidates and employees must successfully pass background screening. 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Knowledge

  • Proven proficiency in computer skills, including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package involving Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Power Point.  

Skills

  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to our residents.

Abilities

  • Ability to work flexible hours, as assignments may vary due to delivery/pick-up needs of District.
  • Ability to work, and drive, in varying weather conditions with varying temperatures.
  • Previous experience in sales or customer service positions required.  
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and professional appearance. 
  • Ability to successfully communicate, and positively problem solve, with diverse members of the public. 
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to providing optimal Customer Service.
  • Ability to be well-organized & successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple demanding deadlines.

EQUIPMENT

Position regularly requires the use of motor vehicles and office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, personal computers and productivity software, copier, printers, scanners, and fax machine.
