INSEAD seeks an Associate Director, Campaign to join our Advancement team. This is a full-time, temporary (5 months contract maternity cover) position based at our Europe Campus in Fontainebleau, France.

About the Job
You will play a pivotal role within the INSEAD Advancement team, bridging institutional priorities with the philanthropic interests of our donor community, which is key to our fundraising efforts and development communications. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the school’s funding opportunities and development resources, with a focus on major and principal giving.
Success in this role demands the ability to engage thoughtfully with faculty, leadership, and colleagues across Advancement and beyond, bringing gravitas, knowledge, and insights to help shape strategic funding resources and discussions.

Collaboration lies at the heart of your role. You will partner closely with the fundraising team, providing guidance, where necessary, around the development resources required to achieve ambitious fundraising objectives. Additionally, you will undertake strategic coordination with academic leaders, including the Dean of Faculty, Dean of Research, Chief Advancement Officer, and Executive Director of Advancement Services & Campaign, to help set priorities and create funding opportunities.


Your role within the team

  • Proposals and collaterals
    • Conceptualizes and guides the creation of fundraising collaterals and tailored proposals that align with the school's priorities, including the Dean’s Fund, research, academic excellence, campus renewal, scholarships, and academic centres/initiatives/institutes that focus on key priorities such as sustainability, diversity, inclusion, and innovation. 
    • Sets a benchmark of excellence in these documents that reach the school’s top donors Establishes best practices within the Advancement team,  ensuring the effective production and delivery of development-related collaterals and fundraising materials.
    • Develops compelling cases for support for new research and faculty support initiatives, the Europe Campus Re-imagination project, scholarships and other institutional priorities. 
    • Oversees a virtual library of development materials, as well as a proposal tracking system.
  • Liaison with Deans and other leadership team members
    • Collaborates closely with the Dean, the Associate Dean of Chief Advancement Officer, Dean of Faculty, Dean of Research, Executive Director of Advancement Services and Campaign and other relevant team members in Research, Faculty and Advancement to help set priorities and explore funding opportunities.
    • Organizes and facilitates monthly meetings between Associate Dean of the Chief Advancement Officer and Executive Director of Advancement Services and Campaign to share updates from Advancement, Research and Faculty admin to ensure effective communication and follow-ups on joint projects.
  • Collaboration with Fundraising Team
    • Works in close collaboration with the fundraising team, most particularly with those handling major and principal gifts.
    • Provides valuable partnership and, where necessary, guidance to support the team's efforts in achieving their fundraising objectives, bridging the school’s priorities with donor interests.
    • Acts as intermediary between the fundraising team and leadership as necessary for insights on donor interests on the ground.
    • Informs the fundraising team, as necessary, on updates to funding opportunities, cases for support and proposals.
       

The ideal candidate profile
 

  • Higher Education, Master’s degree in related field, a definite asset.
  • Fluency in English and exceptional proficiency in creative writing and editing in English.
  • Minimum 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in similar position, preferably in an academic institution or non-profit organisation.
  • Ability to direct projects and processes.
  • Ability to liaise with leadership and academics and interpret intricate and diverse concepts and material for external audiences.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, responsibility and discretion; exercise diplomacy and confidentiality in carrying out work.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines, time, and external resources.
  • Ability to effectively manage a range of key stakeholders.
  •  A comprehensive understanding of fundraising and philanthropy for educational institutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft suite (tailored proposals are often in Word and PowerPoint documents)
