What You Will Be Doing
The Emergency Departments at Peninsula Health are involved in many research projects. The Level 2 Research Assistant conducts clinical and academic research projects under the direction and mentorship of the Manager/Supervisor (Nurse/Midwife). The incumbent will have responsibility for the delivery of direct and indirect research participant management and associated data collection. Under supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for:
• conducting clinical studies and audits
• managing randomised trials
• direct and indirect clinical trial related care within scope of practice
• input into ethics applications
• input into conference abstracts / presentations
This specific position is supported by an NHMRC-funded multicentre study examining the treatment of children presenting to the Emergency Department with febrile convulsions
The incumbent will liaise with the manager/supervisor, their delegate(s), and relevant Monash Health personnel, to ensure appropriate participant recruitment, data collection and database management in clinical research studies and research audits as required. Mentoring will be provided for the development of research expertise.
As a member of a research team, the Research nurse will have responsibility for the delivery of direct and indirect care and associated data collection for concurrent research studies undertaken in the department.
What You Need
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Current experience in care of paediatric ED patients
- Prior experience in Research but not essential
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training is essential to work as a research assistant at Monash Health. It is preferred that this training has been completed, however, if required, the successful applicant will be supported to complete GCP training within the first month of commencing the role.

*Please refer to salary circular for (Nurses and Midwives Victoria Public Health Sector 2024-2028) for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
