SUMMARY:

The Quality & EHS Manager is a critical dual-function leadership role responsible for managing all aspects of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Quality Assurance systems at the Greeneville, TN site. This individual leads efforts to ensure regulatory compliance, drive continuous improvement, reduce risk, and promote a “Culture of Zero” injuries and defects. They will supervise quality personnel, support operations with hands-on involvement at the point of activity, and lead strategic initiatives aligned with company objectives. The position ensures products meet customer expectations while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage and improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
  • Lead, plan, and implement EHS policies and programs to comply with OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, and company standards.
  • Drive root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Conduct and lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Lead internal audits and support third-party certification audits (ISO, IATF).
  • Develop and manage site EHS objectives and metrics; track and communicate progress.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production teams to validate quality at the source.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training to all employees.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address non-conformances and material issues.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Risk Assessments, Layered Process Audits (LPAs), and ergonomic reviews.
  • Analyze quality data using statistical process control (SPC) and other tools to drive improvement.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors, ensuring readiness and compliance.
  • Oversee the management of customer and vendor claims and coordinate resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and organized EHS records, documentation, permits, and reports.
  • Provide training on quality standards, inspection criteria, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Lead or assist with Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement events focused on safety and environmental performance.

 

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

 

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, OHSAS 45001, IATF 16949, and quality control principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in both EHS and quality functions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work across departments.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal and written—at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, quality software systems, and CAD or DraftSite is a plus.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Quality, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including leadership roles in EHS and/or Quality.
  • Prior experience with ISO/IATF quality systems, audits, and compliance is required.
  • Steel processing or automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma training is a plus.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS / OTHER:

 

  • Work Hours/Status: Primarily 1st shift. May require occasional work during 3rd shift to support training, investigations, or audits.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel required for training, audits, or site support.
  • Environment: Frequent exposure (34%-66%) to plant floor conditions including noise, odors, temperature changes, dust, and hazardous substances.
  • Physical Requirements: Walking, climbing ladders/stairs, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 40 lbs. Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
  • Maintains current knowledge of federal and state EHS/quality regulations, trends, and best practices.
