Student Accessibility Services Student Assistant
Student Accessibility Services is looking for students to assist with alternative testing, document conversions, and front desk activities. You will gain valuable communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, by connecting with peers in a helping role, acquiring an understanding of accessibility issues and confidentiality requirements, and coordinating with faculty, staff, and students.
Please note: Hiring for this role depends on passing a background check. This is part of a new IC policy starting Fall 2025.
A successful application consists of the following three components:

Applicants who complete all three components will be considered before applicants who are missing one or more of them.
Position Description
As an IC student assistant you will have an opportunity to provide useful input, while enhancing your experiential learning, through the following tasks:
- Monitoring students during exams to ensure test security
- Proctoring, reading, or scribing exams as needed
- Addressing current or potential problems in a timely manner with input from SAS staff
- Converting course material to an accessible format, as needed
- Tracking and following through on testing and document conversion efforts, as needed
- Maintaining a positive and helpful front desk presence as you answer the phone and greet visitors
- Participating in training activities
- Completing other assignments as needed

- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Teams, etc.). Teams training is available if needed

- Comfortable with computers and with learning new computer-based skills (learning new programs, new procedures, etc.)
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor
- Willingness to work during final exam week as available
