Overview: Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit affordable homeownership affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, partners with families and neighborhood residents to build homes and revitalize communities. Our service area includes the city of Atlanta and the cities and neighborhoods of South Fulton.
Position Summary: The Programs Specialist supports Atlanta Habitat’s mission by designing and delivering impactful learning experiences that inform, connect, and empower program participants to achieve long-term personal and community growth.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and define objectives of programs that complement the core classes in HomeSmart. Currently the programs include Vision. Goals. Action, Habi$ave, My Money. My Future. technology lending, Start Now Press, and Word Reader.
- Treat each special program as a complement to Home Smart and collaborate with the Education Specialist to create a seamless experience for the program participant.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Engagement Specialist to ensure that special program’s information is shared in the program participant e-blast.
- Create and deliver related course content to program participants using best practices, either in-person or virtually.
- Create educational materials and produce written communications to reinforce concepts and initiatives.
- Assist in the creation of a strong network of community partners that offer resources to program participants.
- Find, vet, and train volunteer instructors.
- Implement all components of the special programs.
- Collaborate with Financial Coaching Manager to ensure solid implementation of My Money. My Future.
- Lead the Habi$ave program which includes annual orientation, quarterly Savings Club Meetings, and a yearly celebration.
- Administer Vision. Goals. Action. Entrepreneurial and Scholarship Programs.
- Create the experiences to showcase the program participants success in the special programs.
- Monitor program success and adjust as needed to meet objectives.
- Partner with Sr. Engagement Specialist to create and deliver program completion celebrations.
- Offer instructional back-up to the Education Specialist in the HomeSmart program.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
Education/Professional Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
- Minimum of three years in the education field required.
- Background in small business preferred.
- Background in finance preferred.
- Previous nonprofit work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of housing issues and neighborhoods in the city of Atlanta preferred.
Skills
- Excellent computer skills with an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Access). Salesforce experience preferred. Database management skills are necessary.
- Curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
- Versed in multiple educational delivery methods, including auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and other learning styles.
- Capable of creating and teaching interactive educational content in-person or virtually, as well as training other instructors to enhance participant learning.
- Able to network with small business-related organizations to enhance entrepreneurial offerings.
- Capable of planning large events (50-100+) for large entrepreneurial or scholarship events two or three times a year
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Able to meet deadlines and pay attention to details.
- Able to multi-task
- Able to think independently and apply decision making skills.
This position is classified as a full-time exempt. Some evening and weekend work is required. Occasional driving around the City of Atlanta and South Fulton County is required - candidates must have a reliable vehicle and a valid drivers’ license. Hybrid work schedule available.
