Job Description
The Chief Engineer leads a small team of core technical subject matter experts in cybersecurity architecture, development, integration, operations, and sustainment of enterprise IT systems including both on-premises infrastructure (networks, computing, storage, desktops) cloud-deployed systems (including hybrid cloud and multi-cloud), and edge systems (mobile devices and tactical compute) for intelligence missions. Required work will support mostly classified IT systems.
The Chief Engineer also must be experienced with management, staffing, schedule, and cost components of the engineering solutions. Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to Cybersecurity engineering scope such as:
- Identity and Access Management
- Cross Domain Security
- Defensive Cyber strategies
- Cyber auditing of IT systems
- Configuration and use of data analytics tools designed to report on Cyber activities and metrics.
- Test of newly developed, and live IT systems for Cyber compliance and worthiness
- Leading and participating in new solution concept development, white paper generation, and directed research to develop or enhance key cyber capabilities.

Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering) with a minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5+ years of IT engineering experience.
- Master’s Degree in the appropriate disciplines (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering) and a minimum of 5 years of experience, including 3+ years of IT engineering experience.
Required Experience Skills:
- Experience engineering enterprise IT systems, leading a diverse technical team involving the development of novel or innovative new solutions.
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity engineering, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
- Knowledge of standard practices for operation and sustainment of on-prem, cloud, and hybrid enterprise IT including help desk operations
- Experience with Splunk and associated data analytics tools
- Experience with ITILv3 and ITILv4 processes and solutions
- Demonstrated ability to decompose complex software requirements into easy to understand solutions with clear value propositions.
- Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively at senior levels of the government (customer) and corporate management (company) to articulate mission needs and requirements, and to communicate the value and benefit of BAE Systems solutions.

- Knowledge of large system development strategies including requirement engineering, configuration management, technical baseline management, cost estimating and analysis, and decision support
- Experience with application and data migration from on-prem to cloud deployments
- Knowledge of software development, containerization, and automated DevSecOps pipeline tools
- Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies, including scope, cost and schedule, and resource management, including Earned Value Management
- Experience collaborating across subcontractor engineering firms and OEMs, participating in industry forums and conferences, as well as authoring and presenting technical papers
