Technical Business Development Representative

Fortis is currently looking for a Technical Business Development Representative to leverage their technical expertise to generate interest and build relationships with new clients. This role will be responsible for new business development for small to mid-size organizations supporting the AAV and Adenovirus gene therapy portfolio. Responsibility also includes selling custom development and discovery services for the life sciences and gene therapy customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Use technical expertise to generate client interest, identify new business development opportunities, and build new relationships within the respective territory to expand product sales within the Fortis Gene Therapy portfolio.
  • Sell our End-To-End services developing and producing pre-clinical viral vectors to academic Institutions and small to mid-size biotechs.
  • Examples of the Fortis gene therapy portfolio include: pre-made recombinant adenovirus and AAV, including recombinases, fluorescent control markers/reporters, miRNA, shRNA, sgRNA, and CRISPR/Cas9, custom AAV and adenovirus services including vector design, cloning, packaging/production, amplification, purification and titration.
  • Communicate direct customer needs as a business relationship manager from customer to internal technical teams to move projects forward using a structured process with multiple pro-actively scheduled touchpoints.
  • Set customer guidelines and expectations on proposal timelines to ensure in-quarter forecasting.
  • Understand unique market needs to build strategic action items that will expand company influence and expand product sales within the Fortis Life Sciences and gene therapy portfolio at Vector Biolabs.
  • Report sales results and forecasts during funnel and business reviews with precision in the CRM.
  • Use customer database to research account and sales history that will drive revenue growth in net new customer base and expansion within existing accounts.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Fortis management team, which may not be listed above, that are necessary to accomplish our goal of improving lives by supporting scientific discovery.

Who You Are & What You Bring

Education / Background:

  • PhD or MS in a Life Science field
  • 1-3 years of experience in a customer-facing role within the life sciences.
  • Sales experience preferred. Technical sales experience in gene therapy additionally preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of, and practical experience with, current AAV techniques, methods, and applications.
  • Track-record of being self-driven to accomplish sales goals in team setting.
  • Experience in independently leading research projects with a focus on gene delivery using AAV/adenovirus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep scientific expertise in AAV/adenovirus production and use, with ability to apply this knowledge to solve customer problems.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, and effectively communicate complex scientific information to them.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, techniques, and tasks specific to AAV and adenovirus production.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team as well as independently in a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, etc.
  • Experience with CRMs such as Salesforce beneficial but not required.

Compensation: Base salary plus commissions. Annual base salary range: $95,000.00-$105,000.00.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel once per quarter.
