PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide leadership and coordination of company financial accounting and reporting functions. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Ensure proper month and year-end close functions (GAAP basis)
- Perform timely and accurate consolidation of financial statements, meeting internal and external reporting requirements
- Ensure that internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and provide timely and accurate management and financial reporting
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants, providing financial analysis, as needed
- Direct external financial audits, provide recommendations for procedural improvements and prepare required reporting
- Comply with federal, state and local financial legal and accounting requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
- Perform due diligence on acquisition targets and lead integration accounting and associated activities, such as setting up new entities or accounts
- Establish and ensure enforcement of company policies, and operating procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and/or VP, Finance
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge and provide guidance to the team on all financial matters
- Accounting literature research (GAAP), memo writing and implementation.
- Responsible for all debt reporting requirements (compliance reports, etc.)
Education and Experience:
- Required - Degree in Accounting or Finance. Undergraduate Degree must be from an AACSB accredited 4-year institution. Master’s degree in finance or accounting, or MBA
- Required - 4 - 7 years of public accounting experience plus a minimum of 5 years in accounting management in a privately held and/or publicly traded company. Total combined experience – 10+ years.
- Required - CPA license
- Required - Knowledge of GAAP, capable of researching accounting literature, and ability to implement accounting standards.
- Required - Working knowledge of NetSuite in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred - Prior Experience working as a Controller or Director, Financial Reporting under private-equity ownership
- Additional - Operations and manufacturing experience required.
Critical Skills, Abilities and Experience:
Technical Skills and Experience
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook.
- Four to seven years of experience working for a public accounting firm.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a manager/director level finance or accounting position in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, specifically NetSuite.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule beyond 40 hours per week.
