PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Staff Accountant position is responsible for the ongoing analysis of balance sheet accounts, general ledger expense accounts. Prepares GL entries by maintaining account reconciliations. Performing accruals for expenses at month end close. Developing and implementing accounting procedures and reports to enhance internal controls, detect errors, highlight unusual variances and streamline business processes. Monitor and recording credit card charges.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, analyze detailed account reconciliations.
- Analyze P&L and balance sheet accounts for accuracy.
- Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary.
- Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures to improve accounting and business processes.
- Assist in cost analysis projects, product costing products and customer quotations as needed.
- Support operations through effective communications of overhead expenses, material utilization and labor efficiency reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset project tracking and asset verification
- Work on special projects as required.
- Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others.
- Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent of 3 years of experience in accounting
- Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis.
- Ability to research, compile, verify, analyze, summarize and interpret data. Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, look ups, macros) and must be able to design reports to quickly summarize data trends and variances for management review.
- Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves.
- Strong organizational and communicational skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Preferred Additional:
- Knowledge of NetSuite
