RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Applies a systematic approach, including engineering principles such as lean manufacturing to ensure equipment is monitored, issues are diagnosed adequately, and repairs and preventive maintenance on machines and equipment are performed according to an established schedule.
- Implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall efficiency and reduce waste in production.
- Supervises a team that interprets work orders and specifications to determine if machines and equipment require replacement, repair, or general maintenance.
- Investigate, identify, and resolve operational constraints in the process while eliminating and minimizing bottlenecks to prevent operational downtime.
- Analyzes daily data for department processes and equipment to ensure operations are performed consistently.
- Ensures the technician team performs tasks and responsibilities according to the established standard operating procedures and checklists.
- Ensures the department is prepared and set up daily for maximum efficiencies.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of key performance indicators and their impact on operations.
- Monitor work schedules to ensure manning meets the established standard to meet the daily schedule attainment. Ensures accurate record of staffing and time worked.
- Supervise all employees, monitoring work performance, directing work, ensuring accurate timekeeping, and ensuring team members are trained and qualified and performing duties safely.
- Adheres to all Company policies and standard operating procedures regarding product quality, food safety, and workplace safety.
- Collaborates with operations and other support departments to ensure seamless integration of mechanical engineering activities into the overall production process.

REQUIREMENTS

- College degree in engineering or more than four (4) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility. Protein manufacturing is preferred.
- Some positions under this title may require extension knowledge of refrigeration systems and rendering processes.
- Excellent computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language, including the ability to communicate with team members at all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies.
- Experience with AS400, M3, AutoCAD, Carlisle, Bradley Allen systems preferred but not required.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs
- Ability to solve problems by using theoretical knowledge in the field of discipline and critical thinking skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hot, cold, and humid conditions. The employee may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and the risk of electrical shock and vibration may exist. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring hearing protection in all protected areas.

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.
