Key Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and service to members and their guests with all retail, golf or event needs.
• Tag and prepare merchandise to be placed on the sales floor or back stock.
• Maintain a pristine shop appearance at all times by continually folding, straightening and cleaning on a daily basis.
• Learn members by name and acquire knowledge of their likes and tendencies.
• Assist in managing the special orders and find opportunities to increase special order sales.
• Maintain the Special-Order Binder and provide follow-up with members and guests on special orders and other retail needs.
• Assist in merchandising and creating new, exciting and visually appealing displays.
• Rotate merchandise displays on a weekly basis to keep the shop looking fresh and new.
• Learn and acquire expert knowledge of product features and benefits to promote selling.
• Knowledgeable of club tournaments and events and be capable of answering questions.
• Assist with monthly inventory counts, tournaments, trunk shows, and special shopping events.
• Accurately charge guest fees, merchandise and other items through our POS system.
• Accurately close the golf shop and produce all necessary reports at the end of each shift.
• Commitment to perform additional duties requested by the manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent or College degree are preferred but not required.
• 1-3 years of retail experience, customer service or hospitality is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the golf/specialty retail industry as it relates to club retail shops.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to sell and create rapport with customers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of Jonas POS System is preferred but not required.
• Must have the ability to be on your feet for a 6–8 hour shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and work outside for special events.
• Willingness and ability to learn member names, take instruction, and be patient and courteous to everyone.

Physical Requirements 

• Must have the ability to be on your feet for 8+ hours including but not limited to standing, walking, jogging, or running.
• Will involve walking or standing for extended periods of time, will occasionally be required to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level, and/or to ascend and descend a step stool or step ladder, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps.
• Moderate – heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally may be required.
• Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.
• Ability to communicate orally with customers, management, and coworkers, individually and in groups, is crucial.
• Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
• Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
• Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
