Job Summary
Drive day-to-day safety in a factory and remote workforce that builds and tests imaging equipment. You’ll strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and enable safe throughput across production, labs, and test areas. Develop, implement and maintain safety programs that protect employees, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a strong safety culture across the organization. In this role you will oversee workplace safety initiatives within the manufacturing facility and extend support to a nationwide remote sales team, addressing occupational safety and health concerns in all work settings.
Main Responsibilities
- Own front-line manufacturing safety programs on the factory floor: machine guarding, LOTO, PIT/forklifts, cranes/hoists, ergonomics, chemical handling, contractor safety.
- Perform risk assessments (JHAs), safety walks, and inspections; track and close corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis; maintain OSHA logs (300/300A/301) and required records.
- Deliver targeted training for operators, technicians, and engineers document competencies and refreshers. Develop safety resources and virtual training modules for remote employees.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation reporting and return-to-work programs.
- Serve as point of contact for safety concerns raised by employees across the organization.
- Promote a culture of safety by engaging both all employees through safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other communication media.
- Partner with supervisors, HR, finance and leadership to promote proactive safety practices.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of the manufacturing facility and ensure corrective actions are documented and completed.
- Partner with Production, Quality, Facilities, Commercial and R&D teams on design-for-safety reviews, change control, and safe commissioning of lines, cells, and test bays.
- Prepare for internal/external audits; support regulatory interactions as needed.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 3+ years in manufacturing/factory safety (medical device or complex electromechanical assembly a plus).
- Solid working knowledge of OSHA requirements and practical implementation on the floor. Familiarity with ISO 45001/14001 and quality-driven environments is helpful. Knowledge of DOT and FDA regulatory compliance is a plus
- Skills: Strong presence on the line, clear communicator, data-driven, reliable follow-through on CAPA and metrics. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities part-time. Ability to role model safe behaviors and have working experience in improving safe practices
- Credentials: OSHA-related training/certifications preferred (e.g., OSHA 30, OSHA 510/511). Additional safety credentials are a plus.
Schedule & Conversion
- Part-time for 9–12 months, focused on program build-out and stabilization, with the intent to convert to full-time contingent on performance and business needs.
Physical & work environment
- Frequent work on the factory floor and in test areas; occasional lifting up to ~25–30 lbs.; PPE as required. Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and standard safety risks.
- Occasional support across shifts for training, audits, or investigations.
- Remote work for administrative and training responsibilities. Occasional travel may be required for remote employee interface or projects.
