About Texas Performing Arts 

 

Texas Performing Arts (TPA) is the professional arts presenting and producing program of The University of Texas at Austin. One of the largest and most active university-based performing arts centers in the U.S., TPA is an anchor institution in Austin’s arts, cultural, and entertainment landscape. TPA operates venues on the UT campus including Austin’s largest theater, Bass Concert Hall. Its public programs include Broadway in Austin; an international season of dance, theater, music and more; and the Texas Welcomes series of national touring artists. TPA is part of UT’s College of Fine Arts and engages students across the university in creative experiences. 

 

Purpose 

 

The Texas Performing Arts Marketing Team is looking for a self-starter with a passion  
for marketing and communications and an interest in performing arts. We want you to assist with the planning, administration, execution, and evaluation of marketing campaigns and plans; occasionally assist with day-of-show duties; and generally support the day-to-day operation of the department. 

 

 

Responsibilities 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist with invoicing and gathering marketing proof of performance 

  • Assist with asset gathering and ensure a timely delivery of marketing materials 

  • Submit all Texas Performing Arts events to various local event calendars 

  • Create marketing recaps for all events that include a summary of owned, earned, and paid media 

  • Create, update, and implement plans to support grassroots efforts 

  • Represent Texas Performing Arts with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions. 

  • Arrive on time for work and maintain a reliable attendance record. 

  • Dress appropriately for work in a casual, yet professional environment. 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Previous experience in marketing, communications, or business. 

  • Working knowledge of Mac OS and Microsoft Office. 

  • Strong attention to detail 

  • Strong, independent, and collaborative work ethic. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current pursuit of a Business, Marketing, Communications, or Fine Arts degree. 

  • Interest in the performing arts or arts administration as a career 

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. 

  • Ability to take initiative 

  • A valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Salary Range 

$12.50/hour 

 

 

Working Conditions 

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Prolonged screen time. 

  • Significant in person, over the phone, and written communication with members of the public 

  • Physically able to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds. 

  • Works independently and unsupervised on a regular basis. 

  • Work collaboratively as member of a team with people of varied backgrounds. 

 

Work Shift 

Primarily nights and weekends, when PLAI Lab is open for student use.
