The Knight Center is a global leader in professional training and outreach for journalists. Located at UT Austin’s Moody College of Communication, the Center reaches thousands of journalists from around the world with online courses, conferences, news publications and research.
Purpose:
The Marketing and Social Media intern will support the Marketing and Communications Coordinator by helping manage the Center's social media accounts and contribute to the Center’s social media and marketing strategy.
As a Knight Center intern, you’ll get valuable social media experience at the world-renowned Knight Center, free access to our paid online journalism courses, and the opportunity to publish in our trilingual digital magazine.
Responsibilities:
Create, schedule and publish social media and other promotional content specific to each of our programs
Help monitor our social media channels, responding promptly to comments and messages
Assist with developing and implementing social media strategy across platforms
Learn to identify social media trends and marketing opportunities to incorporate them and enhance the Knight Center's online presence
Collaborate with the Knight Center team to produce quality blog posts, press releases, and other marketing materials
Help with in-person marketing initiatives such as tabling and sponsorship events
Other tasks as needed
Required Qualifications:
Current undergraduate student at UT Austin
Understanding of social media management and content creation
Ability to analyze and understand basic social media metrics
Familiarity with Canva, Capcut, or other creative software
Basic understanding of marketing strategies
Creativity and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
U.S. work authorization is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Fluent in speaking and writing in English and Spanish (and/or Portuguese)
Previous experience managing social media accounts
Intermediate graphic design and/or videography skills
