The Sr. Specialist, Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and regulatory compliance programs across HIMWS manufacturing operation. This role ensures that the company adheres to internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements, including food safety regulations and certifications (e.g., FSMA, Kosher, Halal, NSF, GFCO, etc.). The Supervisor for the team leads a team of compliance professionals and collaborates cross-functionally to uphold audit readiness, manage compliance documentation, deliver training, perform internal audits, and support all facility registrations and certifications
Leadership & Oversight:
• Manage and lead all aspects of all compliance-related programs, schedules, and activities.
• Serve as site PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) and coordinator for Preventive Control activities.
• Communicate and coordinate with compliance experts, consultants, and regulatory authorities as needed.
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:
• Interpret, implement, and communicate applicable regulatory and certification requirements (e.g., 21 CFR 111, 114, 117; FSMA; Kosher; Halal; Non-GMO).
• Create, maintain, and update written food safety plans (e.g., hazard analysis, preventive controls, monitoring, verification, corrective actions).
• Review and approve validation protocols and reports related to shelf life, sanitation, and food safety.
• Evaluate and document the impact of changes (e.g., materials, processes, equipment, or facilities) on food safety and compliance.
Internal Audits & Audit Readiness:
• Develop and lead the Master Compliance Schedule, including planning, scheduling, and conducting internal audits.
• Perform internal audits, document findings, prepare summary reports, and track corrective actions.
• Lead and support regulatory and third-party audit activities (e.g., Kosher, Halal, NSF, GFCO) before, during, and after inspections.
• Draft, review, and submit audit responses; verify and document completion of corrective actions.
Training & Education:
• Create compliance-related training materials and deliver training across departments, including audit preparedness and compliance awareness.
• Ensure ongoing education and adherence to compliance policies by all plant staff, including front desk security and other support teams.
Quality Systems & Metrics:
• Monitor and compile quality metrics and KPIs related to compliance.
• Maintain an audit gap tracker and report status of unresolved corrective actions.
Certification & Special Programs:
• Oversee certification programs (e.g., GFCO, Halal, Kosher, NSF).
• Ensure all necessary Process Authority letters and certification documentation are current and available.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Skills:
- Experience with regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
- Strong understanding of FDA regulations, HACCP, and GFSI standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems (QMS).
Experience:
- Experience in a regulatory or quality compliance role within a manufacturing environmeny
- Experience with regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- PCQI certification is required.
