Start your career in public service. The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG) - Background Investigations, is seeking candidates for the position of Personnel Services Worker. This position is located in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

Position Duties
Pay Grade: TPW
This role involves supporting DHS employees, contractors, interns, and volunteers by conducting and processing criminal history checks to ensure compliance with DHS policies, state and federal laws, and DFCS requirements.
Role and Responsibilities:
Conduct and process background checks for DHS staff, contractors, and volunteers, including those in Residential Child Care, TANF, After School programs, and other services.
Create, maintain, and store reports, documentation, and legal records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
Provide Aid and problem resolution to customers, employers, staff, and other agencies.
Accurately analyzes and interprets criminal history record information to apply policy or regulation in making program-related fitness determinations.
Prepares and provides a written report on findings.
Perform quality control audits to ensure compliance with program standards.
Technical Competencies:
Proficiency in data entry, report generation, and use of criminal justice information systems (GCIC).
Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to summarize information and prepare reports using MS Office.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Proficiency in using a computer for various tasks, including data entry, report creation, and maintaining electronic records.
Core Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining high-quality work.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED AND two (2) years of business related experience.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some of or all of the following skills/experience:
High school diploma or GED AND completion of 90 quarter hours (60 semester hours) at an accredited college or university OR one year at the lower-level Criminal Justice IS Specialist I.
Proficiency in reading a criminal record, interpreting legal, police, and court terminology.
Relevant knowledge of federal and state regulations for criminal justice information.
- Certification as a Terminal Operator by the Georgia Crime Information Center is a plus.
