Under the supervision of Clinical IT Leadership, is responsible for collaboratively selecting, planning, integrating, supporting, and improving complex Healthcare solutions in a modern technology rich Healthcare system. Most are integrated with Epic. Some are not. Collaborates with and provides expert-level support to counterparts from other applications to successfully meet the development and implementation objectives for assigned applications. Effectively manages competing and changing priorities. Serves as project lead for key initiatives, including performing project management duties, as assigned. Develops, documents, and adheres to the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with related applications and systems. Interacts professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and vendors. 

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain the technologies as well as collaborate with other UT Health technology support team members.
  • Manages activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation.
  • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFIs, RFPs or prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
  • Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
  • Champions a structured approach to healthcare application solutions.
  • Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including departmental roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture.
  • Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions.
  • Influences change to standards when necessary.
  • Assists domain architecture team on solutions management and timing of financial spend for application solutions.
  • Supports the architectural aspects of all application projects in peer IT portfolios.
  • Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Develops and executes solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.

Qualifications

  • Experience and previous successful support of the some if not all of the following digital health solutions is desired. Vocera, SPOK, Stryker Vision, Stryker iBeds, Jeron nurse call, patient communication devices, overhead paging, Mindray inpatient monitors and eGateway, Tegris, Torin, T-Doc, Epic Bedside TV, and Patient touch devices.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare systems, regulations, and clinical workflows.
  • Proven track record of successfully collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive healthcare innovation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail regarding accounting skills.
  • Ability to work under indirect supervision.
  • Broad understanding of information technology topics.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and Cybersecurity issues in the healthcare domain.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team building ability.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of the comfort zone acquiring new skills.
  • Flexible in a fast-paced dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities.
  • Technically creative and open-minded.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs.
  • Proficiency with information technologies in a secure network environment.
  • Expertise with personal computers in a secure network environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint) or similar software.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of experience related to Healthcare information technology solutions architecture is desired.
  • 5 years of experience integrating clinical technology solutions with Epic is desired.
