Job Summary:

Great opportunity to join our Global Commercial Banking Team!  The Bank of America International segment is seeking an International Business Development Officer to join their team to lead International business development within Global Commercial Bank, which primarily serves private and public companies with annual revenues between $50 million to $2 billion. The IBDO is responsible for developing new International client opportunities across a spectrum of overseas solutions, influence relationships and lead market level sales routines. 

Job Description:

In support of our growth agenda, this role is part of a team of dedicated client-facing international advisors who work with US-based relationship managers to develop new business with large US-HQ clients and prospects that have a presence across multiple countries.  The International Business Development Officer is expected to engage in dialogue at CEO and CFO levels regarding industry trends, capital structure, and traditional bank products.  The IBDO must be well versed in the Bank of America products and services available to Commercial clients to ensure the proper identification of International cross-selling opportunities. The IBDO determines which products best meet Client's needs, develops new approaches to meet Clients' needs and market dynamics.   Analyzes different market relationships and current market conditions to increase client & market penetration.  The IBDO will ensure opportunities meet our client selectivity parameters and will work closely with RMs and product sales teams outside the US who will take forward and execute the sales opportunity.

Office location flexible to New York, Chicago or Dallas.

Position may be filled as a Sr. IBDO or IBDO, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively and independently research and contact new prospects to successfully solicit new international business opportunities
  • Call on clients and prospects together with the wider relationship team and product partners to solicit new business opportunities
  • Design and implement appropriate sales strategies/programs to carry out their responsibilities and achieve assigned goals.
  • Ensure strong connectivity to networks both internal and external to Bank of America, niches and primary areas of focus to assist with prospect assignment as well as generating prospecting ideas to teams proactively
  • Drive awareness of the global franchise internally as well as elevate visibility of our international capabilities with client decision makers
  • Partner with global relationship teams to host market-level events on a wide variety of international subjects
  • Speak at regional industry conferences on a variety of international topics
  • Regular reporting results to leadership to drive follow-up, provide guidance on focus areas, compile and share best practices and assist with training to increase consistency around research, output and overall success
  • Provide advice to clients on best practices – e.g. location of shared servicing centers or balance sheet optimization
  • US domestic travel

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of front office banking experience
  • Strong sales and relationship management skills
  • Strong knowledge of the industry/market practices/trends and subsidiary banking needs
  • Strong drive and ambition to be an individual contributor salesperson
  • Solid understanding of the core foundational products – credit, treasury & foreign exchange
  • Strong corporate finance, capital markets and accounting acumen
  • Capable of organizing, facilitating, leading and negotiating with a team of bank associates to solve client problems
  • Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships 
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to mobilize internal networks and resources
  • Time management, organizational and planning skills with proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word) and superior analytical and quantitative skills
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7 & 63  (Must obtain SIE, series 7 & 63 license within 180 days of start date

Desired Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in related field or equivalent work experience. MBA desirable.

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$140,000.00 - $235,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
