Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Budgets, the Budget Associate for Academic Affairs (AA) performs budgetary analysis, reconciliation, and project management assignments to support the AA division. As an integral part of the team, the Budget Associate provides budget and financial support for all areas under the Senior Associate Vice Provost; and supports divisional budget management, transactions, and analysis under the direction of the AVP of Academic Budgets and the AA Senior Budget Associate.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills; attention to detail, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and dynamic environment; work independently; and collaborate with both internal and external campus partners.
Responsibilities include:
- Create summaries and analyze reports of productivity and budget data for all areas in AA Division
- Provide bi-weekly status reports for the Senior Vice Provost area
- Use WCU student and financial systems to create faculty workload and complete budget transfers, assisting the Senior AA Budget Associate with daily duties
- Assist Senior Associate Vice Provost direct reports with budget, purchasing, and accounting functions
- Research, analyze, and compile information from historical records and current systems to construct budget, faculty, and enrollment reports for the division in support of the Provost/AVP of Academic Budgets
- Collaborate with college Assistant Deans to ensure accuracy and timeliness of divisional budget entries
- Serve as liaison with divisional staff, the budget office, and the payroll office for supplemental faculty payments, including faculty summer pay, winter pay, and overload
- Maintain current knowledge of University policy
- Maintain knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
- Navigate multiple applications and systems to manage, maintain, and analyze data
- Other duties as assigned
Position Duties
- Bachelor’s degree
- Financial budget, payroll, or accounting work experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience managing and analyzing financial data
- Experience working in a school or university setting
- Experience with student information systems such as Banner
