Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) is an Independent School based at Macquarie University providing high quality education to primary students with mild to moderate intellectual disability, autism and language difficulties across Kindergarten to Year 6.

About the role
This role is 35 hours per week, with hours from 8:00am – 3:30pm, commencing as soon as possible. There is some flexibility in non-term time.
MUSEC School’s ability to provide high quality education to the students is directly dependent on the experience, knowledge and professionalism of its staff.
This role delivers comprehensive administrative support for School operations and assists the School leadership team. You will manage all front office enquiries, answer and direct phone calls, assist students and parents, provide a wide range of administrative support to the Executive Team, and have oversite of the school management system.
About You

We are seeking a candidate who genuinely enjoys working with young children, values relationships, and brings patience and a positive energy to their daily work. As the first point of contact for students, families and visitors, our school receptionist plays a vital part in creating a calm, caring and warm atmosphere within the school. From liaising with parents about excursions, transport, uniforms, canteen, administering student medication, tending to a sick or injured student, or calmly responding to the unexpected, the successful candidate must be adaptable and able to adjust plans to address changing priorities. You will also provide basic First Aid and health care to students.
The successful applicant will have prior experience in a school environment. They will communicate clearly and warmly and will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability. They will work confidently and independently, while also contributing positively to the school culture. Empathy, discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information are essential, as is the ability to remain calm and solutions-focused under pressure.
This role is dynamic and forever changing due the nature of the school. It is essential that the successful candidate is proficient skills in Microsoft Office, as well as have a willingness to continue to learn new IT systems and student management system

Demonstrated competence in reception, administrative support or front desk customer service, preferably in a School
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a calm, welcoming and professional manner.
Strong organisation, attention to detail, time management, and multitasking abilities, especially in a fast-paced environment.
Discreet, reliable and confident in handling with confidential and sensitive information.
Database experience and using it with accuracy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel) and the capacity to quickly learn new systems and technologies.
Attendance at school events which fall outside standard work hours.
