JOB TITLE: Senior Development and Stewardship Manager
EMPLOYER: Boys & Girls Club of Lake County (BGCLC)
DEPARTMENT: Development
REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer (CDO)
STATUS: Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday–Friday, with evenings and weekends as necessary. Traditional office hours typically 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Hybrid work schedule (1–2 days/week) may be possible with approval after 90-day probationary period. 

SUMMARY 

The Senior Development and Stewardship Manager plays a key role in advancing BGCLC’s fundraising efforts to support its mission of empowering youth. This position builds sustainable revenue streams, strengthens donor engagement, and ensures the success of fundraising events and campaigns. Responsibilities include managing donor relations, cultivating corporate sponsorships, overseeing fundraising events, managing donor data, coding and recording incoming deposits, and collaborating closely with the development team to meet fundraising goals. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Fundraising & Donor Relations 

  • Achieve assigned fundraising goal in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and key stakeholders through consistent and personalized engagement.
  • Support the execution of BGCLC’s fundraising strategy, including campaigns, events, and sponsorship programs.
  • Develop and implement donor stewardship programs to encourage ongoing engagement and retention.
  • Coordinate creation of donor-facing materials such as brochures, impact reports, newsletters, and event invitations.
  • Lead tours of Club sites and facilities for donors and partners, both virtually and in person.

Event & Sponsorship Management 

  • Manage corporate sponsorship acquisition and fulfillment for events.
  • Establish and oversee Gala and Golf committees with a focus on sponsorship development.
  • Build and maintain long-term sponsor relationships before, during, and after events.
  • Assist in planning and executing high-quality fundraising events, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.

Data & Reporting 

  • Maintain accurate donor and sponsor information in CRM (My Club Hub), ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Record and code incoming deposits; maintain appropriate documentation for audits.
  • Track donor communications and provide regular progress updates to the CDO.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fundraising activities, donor engagement, and events.

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Work with the marketing team to align messaging across all platforms and materials.
  • Promote BGCLC’s mission and values through all donor and public communications.
  • Ensure development activities reflect ethical fundraising practices and align with organizational diversity and inclusion standards.

Supervisory 

  • Supervise up to one college intern per semester, including oversight, documentation, and sign-offs (reviewed with the CDO).

Other Duties as Assigned 

  • Contribute to development department initiatives and special projects as directed by the CDO.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–7 years of nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, event management, and corporate sponsorship experience.
  • Proven success managing donor relationships and securing corporate sponsorships.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with ability to present virtually and in person.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building ability.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with donor management systems (CRM) and data-driven fundraising.
  • Self-starter with initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to BGCLC’s mission and values.
  • Experience in youth-focused nonprofit organizations preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for event setup and related activities.
  • Occasional travel for donor meetings, events, conferences, and site visits.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by events and donor needs.
