Optim Orthopedics is seeking a full time Sr. Workers' Compensation Coordinator for the Savannah, GA location.

Summary 

The Senior Workers Compensation Coordinator will work in collaboration with the WC Manager in assisting with onboarding and training of new staff and assigning tasks to other coordinators in the department as well as the primary functions and responsibilities of the WC Coordinator position. This may include but not limited to, accurately registering patients into the PM system and providing timely WC appointments for all providers in a high-volume environment. He/she is expected to promote an efficient administrative office which leads to positive patient experiences and fosters positive work relationships among all departments at Optim. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

• Reviews and processes Independent Medical Examination, second opinion, and takeover of care requests.

• Assists in training and onboarding of new employees.

• Preforms duties assigned by the WC Manager.

• Performs duties of the WC Manager if that person is not available.

• Can assign tasks to other WC Coordinators at the discretion of the WC Manager but has no supervisory roles.

• Works/Communicates between physicians, employers and insurance companies.

• Corresponds with insurance company/employer regarding patient’s treatment.

• Resolves return to work and treatment plan issues from insurance company/employer.

• Accurately documents all actions taken in electronic health record system.

• Preforms all job duties of WC Coordinators on an as needed basis

• Performs other job-related tasks as required.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

• Responsible for answering and returning telephone calls; ensures action taken is documented appropriately in the patient’s electronic health record system.

• Responsible for filling out proper documentation.

• Responsible for uploading all necessary documentation in to patient charts.

• Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.

• Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management, electronic health record and other computer software as it relates to job functions.

• Completes all other duties as assigned by the WC Manager.

• Maintains a general working knowledge of the Work Comp policies for the states of GA and SC.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Has no direct supervisory of staff but may have limited supervisory responsibilities related to tasks as assigned by the WC Manager.

Productivity - Prioritizes and plans wok activities to ensure the completion of daily tasks. Uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, sets personal goals and objectives to meet departmental goals.

Job Knowledge - Competent in required job skills and knowledge; exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills; Keeps abreast of current procedures and/or industry changes that may affect the department and/or patient service.

Qualifications: Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

• CWCP (Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional) certification preferred.

• Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

• Knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software.

• Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent customer service a must.

• Experience in the workers compensation industry highly preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic and numeric systems.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, MS outlook, Workers Compensation specific software and EMR (Athena).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

CWCP (Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional) certification preferred.
