POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Distribution Director, the Inventory Control Manager provides specific management responsibilities in the 326,000 sq. foot FEFO distribution center in areas including inventory control, cycle counts, order audits, location audits, damaged inventory, returns, quality control and problem solving.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience and a working knowledge managing the following inventory control concepts: slotting, expiration dates, inventory adjustments, cycle counts, returns processing, and auditing.
Knowledge: Acquired through education, certifications, training, experience.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control procedures, FEFO processes and best practices.
- Ability to analyze inventory data and identify trends, variances, or discrepancies while problem-solving, and demonstrating good decision-making skills with the ability to drive results.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong process improvement mindset focusing on continuous growth.
- Strong leadership, team management abilities and knows how and when to marshal resources.
- Effective communication skills — both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Proven leadership skills, coaching, training, and developing associates.
- Experience with WMS, TMS and ERP systems.
- Delegate when assigning employee workloads.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods when working on the warehouse floor.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with frontline employees, peers, and executives.
- Lifting at least 50 pounds.
- Continuous lifting, bending, twisting, and crouching.
- Comfortable standing and walking for up to 10 hours.
Level of Experience:
- 5+ years of distribution center experience.
- 5+ years of experience leading a team.
- Bilingual preferred (fluent in Spanish preferred).
Level of Education:
High School Education, AS Degree preferred.
Certifications (Preferred but not required):
- APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
- Six Sigma or Lean certification.
Travel:
As the business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
The core tasks, duties, and responsibilities that must be performed on the job.
- Oversee inventory counts, forecasting demand, managing inventory flow, coordinating with cross functional partners, handling discrepancies, analyzing data for improvements, developing procedures, and lead warehouse staff (up to 10 associates) to achieve efficient operations.
- Drives operational excellence metrics and reporting.
- Managing performance and talent.
- Consummate knowledge and use of ERP and WMS systems.
- Effectively communicate daily goals, recognition and areas of focus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve root cause of inventory discrepancies and avoid being bogged down while prioritizing information.
- Communicating inventory status and potential issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Interviewing and selecting talent for the DC.
- Partner with customer service to maintain a high level of satisfaction by providing consistent communication and following up on customer concerns and requirements.
- Effectively using computers, technology and RF Zebra scanners.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
