The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is hiring a Court Liaison for their Adult Forensic team! The Court Liaison facilitates communication between The Harris Center and Harris County Court System. Duties include collaboration with Harris County Court System (District and Criminal Courts), MH jail personnel, and Harris Center Outpatient Clinics. Primary duties include maintaining court records, receiving, preparing or verifying court documents, searching for and compiling information and data, responding to routine requests and using judgment and initiative (with supervisory consultation) to determine necessary response/action in non-routine situations

Your role in Action:

  • Maintain flow of information for court orders using multiple systems.
  • Effectively interacts with judges, attorneys and other court staff.
  • Locate and prepares court documents, records, and psychological/psychiatric referrals.
  • Files court response within the unit time frames.
  • Schedules appointments and organizes meetings with external and internal individuals.
  • Provides software user support managing e-mails and personal calendars.
  • Compiles mailing lists, creates presentation materials, drafts flyers, memoranda and correspondence.
  • Distributes incoming and outgoing mail as required by unit.
  • Takes accurate meeting minutes and distributes them in a timely manner. Conduct all noted follow-up areas within designated timeframe.
  • Researches, copies, pulls or sends information as directed within stated timeframe.
  • Sends reports or other correspondence within the specified timeframe
  • Log and track compliant calls.
  • Maintain vender contract files.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Contributes to suicide care and prevention by embracing our values and applying a trauma-informed approach rooted in safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

Experience:

  • 5 years of general office experience required. 

Requires Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Correct English usage including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Proficiency in computer software programs, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with agency personnel, consumers and the general public.
  • Proficiency in established record keeping, filing, and purchasing processes and practices
  • Must have a computer keyboard speed of at least 65 wpm and pass all clerical support skills tests according to minimum agency requirements.
