Job Title: Group Sales Manager
Department: Sales
Reports to: Director of Sales
The Group Sales Manager will secure new volume accounts; grow positive relationships with assigned existing accounts; assure positive recognition within the local community for the hotel.
How I can Create Guests for Life:
- Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel to previous, current and potential clients.
- Use professional sales techniques to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions that satisfy customer (internal and external) requirements.
- Manage accounts ensuring pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
- Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts.
- Maintain hotel relationships with key accounts to increase customer satisfaction and account revenue.
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Articulate and leverage the benefits of the hotel to close sales opportunities.
- Travel to conduct outside calls, promote the hotel and review competition.
- Represent hotel at trade shows.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Relationship & Brand Representation:
- Represent the hotel with professionalism and enthusiasm to prospective and current clients.
- Be a local market expert—staying informed about competitive trends, events, and high-demand periods.
- Actively promote hotel features, services, and unique advantages.
Business Development & Sales Strategy:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, cold calls, and research.
- Use tools like STAR reports and market analysis to build compelling sales strategies.
- Target key accounts, event planners, and community influencers to drive revenue.
Tailored Proposals & Solutions:
- Conduct site visits and create custom proposals that exceed client expectations.
- Listen actively to client needs and provide creative, cost-effective solutions.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth execution and client satisfaction.
Negotiation & Closing:
- Confidently present, negotiate, and close deals that align with hotel goals.
- Upsell and cross-sell services to maximize profitability.
- Achieve or exceed established booking goals and revenue targets.
Account Management:
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients.
- Ensure seamless event execution through clear communication and coordination.
- Follow up post-event to gather feedback and cultivate repeat business.
- Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, contracts, and client interactions.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as required.
- Stay compliant with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
Is this the job for me:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (preferred)
- 4 years of progressive hotel sales experience without a college degree; or 2 years of progressive hotel sales experience with bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related field.
- A persuasive communicator with strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Proficient in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and sales reporting tools.
- Passionate about hospitality, with a guest-first mindset and a team-player attitude.
- Willing and able to travel locally and occasionally overnight.
