SUMMARY: (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives of the position.) 

The Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist supports staff and other stakeholder development, learning, and growth by assessing, coordinating, and facilitating opportunities for learning including training and development programs. By developing, improving, and maintaining high quality systems, structures, and processes for learning and development management, as well as following and recommending best practices for learning and growth, the L&D Specialist also supports Anixter Center staff and other stakeholders maintain training compliance according to external and internal rules and regulations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Individual duties, assignments, and responsibilities required of the position.) 

Training and Development 

  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.
  • Presents training and development programs externally to help produce revenue.
  • Maintains relevant instructor certification and licensure.
  • Recommends external workshops, webinars, and continued education (CE) opportunities for staff.
  • Assesses, researches, and suggests improvements for training curriculum and material improvements.
  • Maintains curriculum for State-Approved trainings, internal certifications, and external revenue producing trainings.
  • Implements and maintains systems for internal agency trainer support, consistency, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in training and development.

 

 Coordination and Operations 

  • Manages and organizes the delivery of required training for Anixter employees.
  • Coordinates scheduling of internal required training for Anixter employees
  • Manages and schedules the delivery of other trainings and workshops from internal and external presenters.
  • Coordinates and schedules external trainings for revenue.
  • Maintains documentation appropriate to training provided, including but not limited to attendance records and assessment scoring.
  • Collaborates with accounting staff regarding training billing and reimbursement processes.
  • Documents, submits, maintains, and produces training certification records related to federal, state, and local audits and surveys.
  • Develops training marketing and buy-in tools for appropriate audiences.
  • Maintains records and reports of related expenses.
  • Serves as the administrator for the learning management system, including but not limited to enrolling new users and assigning trainings.
  • Organizes and coordinates departmental trainings as fit to the department's needs
  • Maintains communication and updates on individual certification progress
  • Performs other related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS (Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary.) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Training and Development, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • At least two years of training experience required.
  • American Sign Language (ASL) fluency preferred
  • Advanced presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. Experience with Relias Learning preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other related program software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills
