Accounts Payable Clerk
Reports to: Accounting Supervisor
Description: Join a collaborative and friendly finance team as an Accounts Payable Clerk, supporting the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District and five partner school districts. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a high volume of transactions with precision. You’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting vendors and staff, and ensuring timely and compliant payments — all while delivering excellent customer service in person, via email, and over the phone.
Compensation:
- Pay: $21.14 - $24.16 per hour, depending on qualifications
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week), year-round

Key Responsibilities: - Process invoices and obtain appropriate approvals for payment
- Maintain accurate electronic records and organized documentation
- Ensure payments comply with board policies and internal procedures
- Reconcile monthly p-card statements
- Track and calculate payments using Excel and other tools
- Communicate promptly and professionally with vendors and employees
- Assist with purchase orders and independent contractor agreements
- Prepare 1099 forms annually
- Contribute to process documentation and training materials for team cross-coverage
- Provide backup support to team members as needed
- Perform other functions as assigned
Required Qualifications: - Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Coursework in accounting or mathematics is preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years in accounts payable or a related finance position
Additional Required Skills: - Working knowledge of accrual accounting and account codes
- Experience with financial systems such as MUNIS (or similar ERP software) preferred
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Teams)
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills, including 10-key typing
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, and totals
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and interest in continuous improvement
- May require lifting up to 50 lbs with or without assistance, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
