Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Reentry Services Director (RSD), the Community Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate completion of all community service-related programs and functions at Gastineau Human Services. This position is permanent, full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for overtime pay.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Supervises the Community Project Assistant.



ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

1. CRC Resident Accountability:

  1. Performs and logs visual surveillances for Community Residential Center (CRC) residents, verifying that their movements are limited to approved off-site locations.
  2. Reports and documents all variations in flight plans according to ADOC standards.
  3. Helps assign and document Community Work Service (CWS) hours for campus residents.
  4. Covers shifts in Security as requested. 


2. Oversees the CBJ Community Work Service (CWS) Program:

  1. Completes initial and annual background checks on community work service site supervisors.
  2. Orients community work service site supervisors to program guidelines and requirements.
  3. Develops new community work service sites and incorporates them into the program.
  4. Completes intakes and orientation for new CWS clients, assessing clients’ skills and recommending appropriate community work service locations.
  5. Maintains accurate records of client service hours and monitors performance. Sends service hour reminders to clients and submits affidavits for non-compliance as needed.
  6. Completes and submits monthly/quarterly reports to court and CBJ per contract requirements.
  7. Maintains a file of current approved sites and site supervisors, background checks, orientations, incidents, and follow-up documentation.
  8. Audits client files annually and archives/destroys files per contract requirements and GHS policies and procedures.
  9. Testifies in court as needed.

 

3. Manages the Weekend Student Food Bag Program:

  1. Helps ensure the timely assembly and delivery of individual snack bags for schoolchildren in Juneau during the school year.
  2. Verifies that school counselors update their Google workbook with how many children will need bags at their site every week.
  3. Maintains an ample inventory of shelf-stable, individual food items to last the entire school year, including allergy-friendly options. Checks expiration dates and purchase food in the Reentry Administrative Assistant’s absence as needed.
  4. Coordinates and supervises the assembly line of volunteers to prep the weekly food bags on campus.
  5. Sorts the completed bags into labeled totes for each school site and delivers them by Friday morning every week.
  6. Contacts local and national grocery store chains, food manufacturers, and distributors to request donations and discounts on food & delivery fees.
  7. Monitors the GHS_food email inbox and follows up on all contributions, questions, and complaints in a timely manner.

 

4. Monitors and Tracks the Agency’s Supply Inventory.

  1. Records and evaluates each department’s supply needs and use of food, cleaning supplies, and program/office supplies.
  2. Implements, operates, and maintains an inventory tracking system to optimize inventory control procedures.
  3. Trains staff to conduct a thorough inventory before submitting orders for their departments to help reduce waste and avoid over ordering items.
  4. Makes recommendations to streamline and improve all activities related to ordering, receiving, storing and distributing supplies in each department.

 

5. Supervisory Duties:

  1. Hires, trains, and ensures consistent, documented orientation for all new employees.
  2. Develops employee training plans and completes annual employee performance reviews.
  3. Approves staff leave requests and ensures that all positions and shifts are adequately covered.
  4. Ensures timely, thorough, and accurate payroll documentation.
  5. Provides consistent supervision and feedback and documents all performance issues and employee concerns in a timely manner.
  6. Addresses all training and continuing education needs and monitors tracking to ensure that employees complete the required enrollments, coursework & training for their positions.
  7. Ensures that staff follow GHS and ADOC policies, respect client and staff privacy, and adhere to confidentiality regulations including HIPAA, 42 CFR part 2, and mandated reporter requirements. 

 

6. Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

  1. Must be able to maintain accurate and detailed records.
  2. Ability to collaborate and interact respectfully with community members, GHS employees, and program participants.
  3. Must be able to work independently and maintain excellent time management to meet deadlines.
  4. Proficient with basic Microsoft Office functions including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  5. Knowledge of community resources and a working knowledge of the Alaska criminal justice system preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. 1-2 years of experience in the field of criminal justice, social work, community development, social services, or related field.
  3. Must pass the Department of Corrections and Department of Health background checks.
  4. Must have a current, valid Alaska driver’s license and be insurable by GHS’ auto insurance.


PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS


  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, and move objects. The employee frequently is required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
