Montrose seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Director of Annual Giving & Alumnae Relations to join its Development team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to advance Montrose School's philanthropic goals and foster lifelong relationships with alumnae. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of comprehensive annual giving campaigns, community-wide engagement events and engaging alumnae through strategic programming, volunteer management, and effective communications.
Job Requirements:
- Develop and implement multi-channel annual giving campaigns (direct mail, email, social media, Day of Giving).
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of annual fund donors and prospects, with a focus on increasing participation and upgrading gift levels. Elevate major and planned giving prospects to the attention of Development colleagues as they arise.
- Track, analyze, and report on the performance of annual giving initiatives, using data to inform future strategies.
- In collaboration with colleagues, manage community-wide engagement and fundraising events (e.g. auctions/galas, golf tournament, Day of Giving, Grandparent Day).
- Manage annual fund pledge reminders, milestone giving, and recurring gift programs.
- Collaborate with the Development team to create compelling solicitation messages and materials.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute alumnae engagement programs and events (e.g., reunions, regional gatherings, professional networking, student-alumnae mentorships, etc.).
- Recruit, train, and manage alumnae volunteers for various initiatives, including reunion committees, admissions support, and regional clubs.
- In collaboration with the Development team, gather and record alumnae news, updates and success stories while maintaining accurate alumnae records in the database, ensuring timely and personalized communications.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop engaging content for alumnae newsletters, social media, and website.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with alumnae and donors through various channels (e.g. phone, email, video calls, in-person meetings, social media, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Implement best practices and motivational strategies to cultivate a strong culture of philanthropy.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all constituents, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.
- Oversee volunteers for development events and initiatives.
- Occasional evenings and weekends required.
Experience & Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, alumni relations, public relations, marketing, or a related field, preferably within independent schools, higher education or a non-profit organization.
- Demonstrated track record of success in annual giving or engagement programs.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to articulate the school's mission and priorities effectively.
- Interpersonal: Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with diverse constituencies (alumnae, donors, faculty, staff, students, parents and grandparents).
- Organizational: Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Education Suite. Experience with advancement databases (e.g., Veracross, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) is highly preferred. Familiarity with email marketing platforms and social media for engagement is a plus.
- Analytical: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Self-Motivation & Initiative: Proactive, self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
