Your role at BHSN:
As a Crisis Clinician – Substance Use Specialty, you will provide crisis intervention in our Crisis Residence program, including risk assessments, brief interventions, care management, and individual/family psychotherapy to individuals in crisis with a specialty focus on substance use. You will help stabilize clients, return them to a pre-crisis level of functioning, and connect them with community services and supports that meet their unique needs.
This position will support both our Children's and Adult Crisis Residences. Work schedule varies and will involve evenings and weekends.

Your responsibilities:
Provide supportive and educational group/individual counseling focused on substance use
Coordinate services with internal and external providers to support client needs
Collaborate and share information with rehabilitation teams and other service providers
Maintain client confidentiality and protect confidential health information
Assist clients in developing safety plans as clinically needed
Transport clients to emergency rooms or other service providers for stabilization
Assist emergency services with triage to determine appropriate levels of care
Work a minimum of one evening shift per week
Connect clients to pertinent outpatient services
Complete intakes, treatment planning, individual, family, and group sessions, and discharges
Provide outreach and engagement services as needed
Maintain thorough understanding of, and compliance with, OMH regulations, including 14 CFR NY 589, OMH standards of care, and OMH Crisis Residence Guidance
Participate in staff meetings, supervision, community meetings, and treatment teams as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
Your skills & qualifications:
Valid NYS Education Department CASAC certification (required)
Experience in, or knowledge of, addiction/chemical dependency treatment (preferred)
Strong engagement, clinical, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with adults with serious and persistent mental illness
Ability to work afternoon, evening, and weekend hours (required)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and walk briskly for up to 10 minutes
Familiarity with databases and electronic health record systems (preferred)
Valid NYS driver’s license with an acceptable driving record to BHSN’s insurance carrier
