Job Title: Business Development Proposal Writer 

Location:  Melbourne, FL (Onsite position, not remote)

Shift:  8:00a to 5:00p (Mon to Fri)

Pay:  $65,000 to $75,000 (DOE) 

Required:  

  • Currently reside within a commutable distance to our Melbourne, FL campus
  • A minimum of 1-year experience in writing business proposals
  • Previous experience with Request for Proposals (RFPs) and other solicitation documents

Preferred:

  • A BA or BS in Business Administration or related field (not required but preferred).

Overview 

The Business Development Proposal Writer is a detail-oriented and self-motivated professional dedicated to supporting USSI’s growth through high-quality proposal writing. This role is instrumental in responding to requests for proposals (RFPs) from a wide range of clients. The ideal candidate brings experience in proposal writing and possesses familiarity with the unique requirements of solicitation documents. The Business Development Proposal Writer’s expertise is essential in crafting compelling proposals that showcase USSI’s capabilities and help secure new opportunities for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and assemble proposals, presentations, and pitches, assisting the Sales team, including drafting project budgets and timelines
  • Conduct thorough research to gather relevant data and insights for proposal development
  • Compile and organize information from various sources to support proposal content
  • Write clear, engaging, and persuasive proposals tailored to the needs of diverse clients
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment with marketing strategies and objectives
  • Assist the Sales team in identifying and qualifying new prospects 
  • Coordinate with appropriate staff about required support and supplemental materials
  • Convey the capabilities, background, and experience of USSI as it relates to RFPs
  • Submit proposals within deadlines to the appropriate parties for approval including printing/mailing and uploading proposals to procurement sites
  • Assist in developing standard assets and processes for submitting proposals, conducting finalist presentations, facilitating pitches, etc. coordinating with other internal departments
  • Assist in fielding Potential Clients forms and inquiries
  • Assist in internal and client information calls by taking notes and scheduling follow-up calendar events
  • Performs the contract archival process along with other sales documents
  • Maintain a database to keep certifications up to date and/or assist in applying for new ones and tracking progress and expiration
  • Provide support for other Business Development team projects as needed
  • Interface and communicate in a collaborative manner at all levels of the organization
  • Facilitate in drafting awarded contract and obtaining parties signatures
  • Perform additional projects, initiatives, duties, responsibilities for any area throughout USSI while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability, for the overall success of the organization as directed by the CRO and/or their designee(s).

  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
  • Research and Analytical Skills: Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information from various sources. 
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance in all proposal materials. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with proposal management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Knowledge of the Proposal Process: Understanding of best practices and industry standards for proposal development.
