Community Health Center of Snohomish County offers competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package. Depending on clinical FTE, this position may be compensated with a salary range of $163,527.09–$219,955.77, pro-rated based on FTE, or with salary plus an incentive plan (4%–14% of specialty annual median compensation). Positions with more than 0.50 of their clinical FTE in the primary dental clinic are eligible for the incentive plan and a different salary range of $172,633.14–$189,483.83, also pro-rated based on FTE.

The Dental Clinical Director (CD) of the school-based dental program provides clinical leadership for dental services provided within school-based locations operated by CHC including directing daily operations and school-based dental clinicians in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards and regulations. The CD coordinates patient care, partnerships, and program direction in partnership with the Program Manager – School-based, Business Development Director, and CHC Leadership. The CD will help organize, plan, and implement growth and expansion opportunities including the clinical scope of care provided in school-based locations and/or increasing the reach of school-based services in additional locations or through site partnerships within school districts. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the CD also provides dental care to school-aged children within school-based locations in accordance with the State of Washington Department of Licensing and their professional scope of practice. As a provider, the Clinical Director is responsible for the documentation of care provided as well as indirect care related to communicating with parents/guardians and/or co-located service providers as appropriate and required. School-based providers typically operate with mobile dental equipment and are responsible for supporting clinic and equipment formulary and inventory in partnership with other school-based staff.

This position includes 0.25 to 0.75 FTE in a school-based setting, with the remaining FTE spent in a traditional clinic setting

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred:

Education

· High school graduate or equivalent.

· Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or equivalent from an Accredited School of Dentistry.

Preferred:

· Education and/or training in specialized care such as pediatrics.

Experience

· Experience working in a school-based or community-based setting providing dental services (1 year).

Preferred:

· Experience as a practicing clinician (2 years).

· Not less than .5 FTE equivalence of patient care within the field of training within the past year

· CPT coding experience.

· Healthcare information systems, such as electronic health record and practice management systems experience.

· Working with low income, multi-ethnic populations and patients of all ages.

· Familiarity with federally qualified health center or FQHC “look alikes.”

· Experience with and passion for working with school-aged children.

Credentials

· Dentist license (DDS/DMD) with the State of Washington.

· DEA controlled substances registration

· Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR/AED) certification.

· Successful completion of CHC’s credentialing and privileging review upon hire and recredentialing as appropriate

Other:

· Driver's license with the State of Washington.

· Motor vehicle insurance liability policy, a certificate of deposit, or a liability bond to the required limits.

A. Job Specific Functions/Performance:

1. Assures the services of school-based locations are provided to patients according to CHC standards.

2. Participates in identifying and resolving day-to-day operational problems in collaboration with program and organizational leadership and site partners.

3. Collaborates with program and organizational leadership to develop and implement long-term plans and budgets of the program.

4. Facilitates quality improvement activities at the program level and support the creation and implementation of school-based location specific Policies and Procedures

5. Informs the Chief Dental Officer of provider performance issues, as needed.

6. Provides clinical and personnel supervision to school-based dental clinicians.

7. Excels in working with school age children around their healthcare need

8. Communicates with parents/guardians regarding student/patient care

9. Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain relationships with community partners

10. Coordinates delivery of care with appropriate clinical staff and community partner staff to ensure quality of care is met.

11. Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic dental care to school aged children and their families in accordance with the State of Washington Department of Licensing and within their scope of practice and in alignment with CHC requirements.

12. Instructs patient and/or family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Promotes dental care through direct patient care and education.

13. Identifies special needs of community partner patients and works with staff to address those needs.

14. Performs all duties and responsibilities contained in the job description for a Dental Hygienist or Dentist, depending on specific credentials.

15. Performs all duties and responsibilities contained in the job description for a Site Clinical Director.

16. Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.

17. Provides personnel and clinical supervision to other dental clinicians who work in any school-based location including managing hiring, onboarding, training, clinical skill assessment, and performance management.

18. Travel between sites, flexible hours, and the potential for evening and weekend events.
