The National Pork Board, funded by the Pork Checkoff, is seeking a Manager Show Pig Industry Relations. As a key member of the Producer and State Engagement Team, this individual will serve as a key ambassador for the National Pork Board—connecting with breeders, exhibitors, and industry partners to the broader swine industry by strengthening the Pork Checkoff’s presence and impact in the show pig industry community. This individual is highly relational, and integrity driven. This role will support and augment Pork Checkoff projects and programs with the show pig industry, including but not limited to swine health, sustainability and talent development. A strong understanding of the show pig sector is essential, and familiarity with commercial pork production is a valued asset. In this role, the individual will serve as a representative of the Pork Checkoff with U.S pork producers through industry events and projects
Responsibilities will include the following:
Relationship Development & Engagement
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with breeders, organization leaders, state pork associations and other key stakeholders.
- Partner with Director of Industry Programs & Outreach and Vice President of Producer & State Engagement to develop and execute account management plans for the Pork Checkoff’s stakeholders in the show pig industry.
Industry Insight & Advocacy
- Serve as an internal advocate for the show pig community, relaying key insights and feedback to the National Pork Board’s leadership. Will also serve to connect the show pig industry with the broader pork industry.
- Stay informed on market trends, challenges and opportunities facing both the show pig and commercial pork sectors.
Communication & Outreach
- Collaborate with communications teams to develop and deliver effective messaging, campaigns, and educational materials.
- Act as a trusted spokesperson and public representative of the Pork Checkoff at industry and youth events.
- Communicate key stakeholder insights with National Pork Board staff that will be used to inform organizational programs.
Strategic Partnerships & Sponsorships
- Identify, build and maintain partnership opportunities that align with National Pork Board’s mission, strategic plan and enhance value for stakeholders.
- Manage sponsorship relationships, ensuring accountability and follow-through on commitments.
Program Development
- Support initiatives focused on breeder engagement, state pork association support, and youth development.
- Contribute to educational and leadership programs designed to strengthen the next generation of the swine industry.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Passion for youth development, livestock exhibition, and agricultural progress.
- Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in CRM tools and proficiency in a variety of electronic communication tools, for example Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook and Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industry relations, sales, or stakeholder engagement in an agricultural context.
- Understanding of commercial pork production systems, challenges, and supply chain dynamics.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Communications, Agribusiness, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in the swine industry or broader livestock industry.
This position is expected to travel frequently for extended periods, up to 50%, by air or car, including nights and weekends. Valid driver’s license required.
The National Pork Board’s corporate office is located in Clive, IA. Remote candidates will be considered. Application deadline is 8/18/25 however, we may speak to qualified candidates prior to the close date.
Full-time starting salary range is $70K-$95K. Please note: This starting range is based on a general market pay assessment. However, individual salary decisions take into account a variety of factors including but not limited to: business and local market considerations, internal equity, and overall candidate skills, education and experience.
The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, technology, swine health, pork safety and environmental management.
