The Cloud and Infrastructure Manager will report to the Head of Service Operations and Infrastructure. They will create and put into action a plan for our customer's Infrastructure services. Their job will include making regular improvements to these services. This ensures that both the long-term goals and daily requirements of the organisation and its customers are met. This is a critical, senior and visible role taking accountability for a series of complex services and programmes of work delivered in a diverse supplier ecosystem.
Please note this role operates in a hybrid model with candidates expected to be able and willing to work from our customer's Heathrow office at least twice per week.
Required skills, qualifications & experience:
- Solid management with a proven ability to influence and persuading internally and externally
- Management and inspiration of virtual teams across different locations and cultures
- Effective stakeholder management, balancing and finding compromises between opposing views and opinions
- Systematic and rigorous planning of work and priorities
- Flexibility in a rapidly changing and developing environment, with the ability to work under tension
- Innovation - transforming industry trends into useful, cost-effective, secure, scalable and supportable solutions
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent qualification
- ITIL or similar qualification in Service Management
- Senior-level IT management gained in a complex global organisation
- Proven experience managing hybrid cloud environments (AWS + on-prem)
- Robust technical expertise in AWS services and cloud-native architectures
- In-depth knowledge of data centre operations, virtualisation, networking, and storage
- Knows how to use tools that manage infrastructure through code, like Terraform and CloudFormation. Also knows how to use automation tools, including Ansible, and tools that help with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD pipelines)
- Solid awareness of ITIL practices, especially around availability, capacity, and incident management
- Demonstrated ability to lead and encourage technical teams in dynamic environments
- Proven and demonstrable track record of successfully managing and leading an IT Infrastructure function within a multinational environment
- Proven track record of working in a multi-vendor environment across regions
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, improving quality and efficiency in a collaborative environment, with experience of building and managing operational and infrastructure teams
- Demonstrable service management experience and delivery of results in an operational or service delivery role
- Experience working within a hybrid IT environment consisting of on-premise, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and 3rd party SaaS / PaaS solutions
- Extensive Operational management experience of a shared services operating model
Key responsibilities & duties include:
- Define and implement infrastructure and cloud strategies to support business growth, transformation, and operational endurance
- Lead the management of a hybrid environment, including AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, etc.) and maintain the company's on-site infrastructure, including servers, storage, and network systems
- Lead a team across IT and multiple suppliers to deliver robust, robust services leveraging our infrastructure and network, while spearheading a culture of service excellence and continual improvement
- Ensure systems are available, scalable, and performant through initiative-taking monitoring, maintenance, and incident response
- Enforce security policies and regulatory compliance across both cloud and on-prem environments; ensure proper identity and access management
- Manage a cross-functional team of engineers and administrators; support career development and foster a culture of excellence and accountability
- Work closely with cloud providers, hardware vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure service alignment and delivery
- Monitor and optimise infrastructure usage and cloud spend, ensuring proficient allocation of resources and adherence to budget. Foster FinOps adoption across the business
- Support Cyber Security in efforts to maintain and test robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans for all critical systems
- Act as the principal decision maker around network & infrastructure upgrades, capability enhancements, supplier selection and incident resolution
- Lead the provision of infrastructure services to the business, including availability & capacity planning alongside facilities and networks operations
- Lead the successful delivery of network & infrastructure projects, across its main hub locations
- Ensure that IT facilities, including computer rooms, data room and comms rooms, are of the required standard to support the IT estate and meet both current and future requirements
- Management of 3rd parties involved in the delivery of infrastructure services and projects
- Supplier collaboration to ensure best performance at best value for our network and infrastructure services, ensuring all contractual obligations are delivered
- Accountability for ensuring tooling is in place to provide real time observability across the infrastructure and network estate enabling reliable health assessment and early detection and resolution of issues
- Accountable for the safe, secure, robust running of the infrastructure and networks service, ensuring that all established protocols are adhered to
- Provide management and guidance in support of the delivery of a number of broad and complex projects
- Build a solid relationship with the cyber security team to ensure smooth infrastructure service operation
- Accountable for the IT infrastructure, comprising of both on-premise and Cloud (AWS), including availability and capacity planning, and infrastructure-led projects and initiatives
- Primary point of contact for audit and accountable for networks and infrastructure-based audit remediation activity

- Experience working in the Logistics, Freight, Courier industry
