Position Summary:
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to Members and guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner. This role ensures a positive guest experience by maintaining high service standards, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment at the bar.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet Members and guests promptly and courteously
- Prepare and serve beverages according to standard recipes and company guidelines
- Take guest orders and input them accurately into the POS system
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including counters, tools, and glassware
- Check identification to verify legal age requirements for alcohol service
- Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures
- Restock bar inventory and supplies as needed throughout the shift
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately
- Collaborate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service
- Stay up to date on menu items, promotions, and bar offerings
- Provide recommendations and upsell when appropriate
Qualifications:
- Minimum age requirement to serve alcohol (based on local laws)
- Previous bartending or hospitality experience preferred
- Knowledge of drink recipes, bar tools, and serving techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong multitasking and organizational abilities
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol) may be required
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced bar and restaurant environment
- Exposure to loud noise, crowds, and potentially intoxicated guests
- Evening and weekend shifts typically required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours per shift)
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 25–50 lbs (e.g., kegs, boxes of liquor, cases of glassware)
- Manual dexterity for operating bar tools and handling small items (e.g., bottle caps, garnishes, utensils)
- Ability to visually inspect glassware, ID cards, and other items at close and distance ranges
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes crowded or noisy environment
- Ability to communicate clearly with guests and coworkers (verbal and auditory communication)
