In this role you will:
● Serves as the department’s point of contact and liaison with social services. Fosters and maintains relationships with social service agencies.
● Works to address the needs of the homeless, assisting them into sustainable supportive services housing. Provides follow up to individuals within the community.
● Works alongside the NPO Unit, CIT Team, CRT, and HOT Officer dependent on the immediate situation.
● Provides case management, needs assessments, and links to services to those participating within the Focused Deterrence Program. Regularly attends meetings such as Focus Deterrence, COC, LEARN, and Safety Justice Challenge.
● Responds to crisis calls when requested by officers or as a Co-Responder. Helps the department enhance its Co-Responder program by providing professional insight and suggestions regarding evidence based best practices. ● assists individuals that come to the station wanting Safe Passage. Attends squad meetings to update, discuss, and answer questions about individuals frequenting the streets.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be efficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access. They will possess strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to complete detailed reports accurately. The candidate will interact courteously and effectively with others, including members of the public, and will be capable of working respectfully with a diverse population. They will be skilled in analyzing situations quickly and objectively to determine appropriate courses of action. Knowledge of social services available in Sangamon County is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related social science field is required, along with a minimum of two years of case management experience. An LCSW is preferred, with consideration also given to candidates holding an MSW. Experience in developing and implementing social service programs is also preferred.
