DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the selection, training, development and performance of assigned staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce for Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.
- Recruits and selects applicants for job vacancies considering the requirements of the job, and the skills/abilities of applicants.
- Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to assure mutual understanding of desired results.
- Assesses team member performance, provides positive and constructive feedback on an ongoing basis to reinforce desired results.
- Identifies training and/or development opportunities that will assist the team member in achieving enhanced job performance and/or career objectives.
- Assures job descriptions are kept up-to-date.
Gathers and analyzes data on performance of games in order to make solid recommendations on cost effective purchases and/or leases.
- Keeps abreast of new technology in the gaming industry.
- Attend and participate in gaming shows.
- Works with vendors and other departments on implementing new systems, games, etc.
- Reviews game performance reports daily.
- Review of rules affecting the game play, hold percentage and drop.
Develops and insures compliance with policies, procedures, internal controls and gaming compacts in order to protect casino assets.
- Draft and present departmental policy and procedure to risk assessment.
- Prepare and present game classification information to Compliance as needed.
- Investigate and respond to procedure discrepancy reports.
- Investigate and respond to suspicious activities by guests and team members.
Listens and responds to guest concerns to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Assists guest’s person-to-person, via telephone or written correspondence.
- Refers guests to the appropriate department or function for issue resolution when needed.
- Applies problem-solving techniques as necessary.
Develops and manages the annual budget for the Department to assure the effective and efficient use of financial resources.
- Reviews applicable data, such as the Daily Games Summary and Monthly Financial Statements.
- Anticipates and plans for needed resources to support departmental programs and systems.
- Prepares preliminary budget drafts.
- Presents proposed budgets and secures approval from senior management.
- Reviews the budget on a monthly basis, keeps senior management informed of any major variances from budget.
- Keep abreast of national and regional economy.
Develops appealing departmental promotions to increase play and enhance guest experience at Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.
- Outlines and structures promotional ideas and forwards to the Director of Gaming Operations for consideration.
- Works with Marketing Personnel on design and approval process of promotions.
- Communicates departmental promotions to affected department.
- Monitors performance of each promotion to ensure profitability, providing Return on Investment reports as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field of study; or 5 or more years of related work experience that demonstrates increased level of supervisory responsibility.
Certificates, Licenses & Designations
Must meet licensing requirements as prescribed by the Tribal/State Compact for Gaming.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply internal gaming controls.
- Knowledge of both the mandatory minimum internal control standards and the tribal/state compact for gaming.
- Knowledge of and skill in using a personal computer and related software including Excel, Word, Outlook Express and Explorer.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply commonly accepted rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation in written communication to develop management reports and summaries.
- Ability to plan for company operations in financial terms for a given period of time to estimate and evaluate income and expense.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a group to make the work of the group successful and effective.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as gaming controls and procedure manuals, safety rules, and operation and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to follow procedures and give attention to detail.
- Ability to plan and carry out large scale projects and communicate these objectives to other personnel.
- Ability to occasionally sit for moderate periods of time.
- Ability to identify and carry out actions to achieve goals while considering possible risks to effectively develop long and short-range company objectives.
- Skill in basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages and decimals.
- Skill of developing and maintaining positive relationships with external and internal customers.
- Skill in preparing written materials such as correspondence, reports, and proposals to meet purpose and audience.
- Skill of determining alternatives that would correct a situation to provide effective guest service.
- Skill of receiving a message, understanding the intended message, and giving feedback to ensure guest expectations are met.
- Skill of delegating authority and encouraging and supporting risk taking to develop responsible team members and management team.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Occasional exposure to moderate to loud noise level.
