STUDENT COORDINATOR

Rosie’s Place was founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity and find security in their lives.


Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing and education services. Rosie’s Place relies on the generous

support of individuals, foundations and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding.

OPPORTUNITY

Rosie’s Place is looking for a Student Coordinator to join our Women’s Education Center (WEC) team. Reporting to the Director of Women’s Education Center, the Student Coordinator develops, supports and manages educational services for Rosie’s Place guests focusing primarily on student-related

activities, needs and next steps.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit students for 6 levels of ESOL classes.
  • Recruit, assess and place students in appropriate levels with assistance of WEC staff.
  • Update, maintain and package appropriate testing materials so they are easily accessible.
  • Maintain all student progress on benchmarks and goals in Salesforce.
  • Develop, tweak and adjust best practices for assessment at each level.
  • Collaborate with the Workforce Specialist to get students into jobs and training.
  • Facilitate and check-in on computer lab, and encourage students to use it.
  • Enter and manage student demographic information in Salesforce database and Excel.
  • Using resourceful and creative ideas to address student personal challenges; referring to appropriate services and educational opportunities within and outside of Rosie’s Place.
  • Assist with quarterly reports and other related program documents.
  • Substitute teaching and additional duties as assigned by the Director.
  • Report directly to the WEC Director.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

to know you and the unique strengths you will bring to the work. This said, we are most likely to be interested in your candidacy if you can demonstrate the majority of the qualifications and experiences listed below:

  •  2+ years experience in Adult: ESOL, Basic Education, and computer lab programs.
  •  Second language proficiency strongly preferred (Haitian Creole, Spanish).
  •  Bachelor’s required, Master’s degree preferred.
  •  Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and sensitivity to the issues that affect poor and homeless women.
  •  Experience working with volunteers.
  •  Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams, Northstar Digital Literacy and/or other adult education related IT skills).
  •  Flexible team player with a sense of humor and patience.

HOURS

This is a full-time (40 hours) exempt position, with the following regularly scheduled hours:

  •  Monday-Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm

The Student Coordinator is required to be onsite at Rosie’s Place Monday – Thursday. Fridays can be worked remotely.

WHAT WE OFFER

The starting salary range for this role is $55,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Rosie’s Place offers a robust benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, pension contributions, paid vacation, and more.

WORK EXPECTATIONS AT ROSIE’S PLACE

We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Student Coordinator is expected to work onsite at Rosie’s Place during their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests, and volunteers. We continue to adapt to safety protocols related to COVID-19 as we understand them, and all employees must follow our safety protocols. Among these protocols, we require all employees to be up to date with their COVID vaccinations. Requests for medical or religious exemptions from the COVID vaccination are considered.
