Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist – Dental
Claims to join our billing team. The ideal candidate will have experience billing medical
insurance for dental procedures , particularly for specialty providers such as oral surgeons,
periodontists, and endodontists. This role is crucial to ensuring accurate claim submissions,
timely reimbursements, and effective communication between providers, insurance companies,
and patients.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience billing and coding medical insurance for dental claims.
- Prior experience working with specialty dental providers strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical claim forms (e.g., CMS-1500), coding (ICD-10, CPT), and documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with dental and medical billing software systems (e.g., Open Dental).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Submit dental claims to medical insurance carriers for specialty procedures (e.g., oral surgery, sleep apnea appliances, bone grafts, etc.).
- Work with the office to verify patient benefits and eligibility for medical insurance coverage.
- Work to gather required documentation (e.g., narratives, clinical notes, x-rays).
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payment.
- Review and appeal denied or underpaid claims as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical insurance policies related to dental services.
- Accurately post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Communicate with the office staff regarding the medical insurance benefits and claim status for the patient.
- Collaborate with other billing team members to ensure efficiency and accuracy across all accounts.
