Your Role: The Help Desk technician is expected to offer technical assistance and address questions regarding End-User computing requirements. Administer access for end-users, as well as manage systems, hardware, networks, and software as directed.

 

 

Job Requirements and skills:

  • Support all server, Windows operating systems, and user software/hardware
  • Configure workstations (virtual/physical) and peripherals (routers, printers)
  • Ensure computer hardware (Monitor, HDD, mice, keyboards) functions properly
  • Install software according to specifications, ensuring correct setup and operation
  • Ensure strong security protocols and procedures
  • Instruct users on new software and equipment use
  • Diagnose and solve hardware/software issues, and maintain repair logs
  • Inventory management for hardware resources and placing orders as needed
  • Help with administering systems and networks
  • Availability for weekend and after-hours work
  • Serve in the Help Desk on-call rotation
  • Perform additional tasks as required

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Required qualifications include previous IT Technician experience or similar roles
  • Strong problem-solving and analytic thinking
  • Effective communication skills including empathy and collaboration
  • Exceptional organization and time management abilities
  • Proficiency working under stress with a keen eye for details
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer systems and networks plus an eagerness to learn
  • Familiarity with these technologies is preferred: Microsoft 365, Office, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Active Directory, and Microsoft admin tools; cloud hosting via AWS and Azure; virtual server and desktop management; data backups with Rubrik; network solutions by Palo Alto and Aruba; Windows 11 operating system; Service Desk Plus for IT support management; and automation using PowerShell scripts.
  • IT certifications recommended: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, and ITIL Foundations
  • Preference for a degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work performed in an office setting. Able to bend, reach, lift, sit and walk. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
