About the Department
Assist with coordinating and conducting activities and facility usage with the Recreation Division to produce quality, successful and efficient results in participation and enjoyable programs and events for the City. Job responsibilities include direct contact with children, adults, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
Position Duties
- Assist with the planning, promoting and implementation of assigned programs and events.
- Communicate needs for programs and events.
- Assist with the proper and timely submittal of program promotional content.
- Maintain and provide activity records and reports as assigned.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all programs offered through the Recreation Division.
- Collect, secure, and turn in appropriate facility and participant user fees.
- Research and recommend new ideas for continued growth and to enhance existing programs and events.
- Monitor facilities and perform maintenance to ensure they are in proper condition for program and event use.
- Supervise, assign, train and develop program personnel (Limited Term and Volunteers)
- Coordinate and conduct programs and events.
- Administer the CivicRec and Tyler Munis computer programs for proper daily operations.
- Operate City vehicles for transportation of materials, personnel, and participants.
- Assist with Department of Leisure Services and City projects as assigned.
- Drive to and from City work sites. Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.
- Complete required trainings as specified within the City’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
- In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential and may be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years of experience in recreation or sports programming.
- Experience in a professional or educational environment to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet search engines and email communication.
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be able to work various hours to include evenings, weekends and outdoors.
- Valid driver license. Must obtain State of Florida driver license within one (1) month of employment.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with varying aspects of Leisure Services related activities.
- Valid American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certification. Must obtain within three (3) months of employment.
- Willingness to adopt AI and emerging technologies.
Other Qualifications
Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement, a VECHS Level 2 background screening and clearance through DCF when working Summer Camp programs.
Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).
